The Beatles Perform Rock’s First Stadium Concert

On August 15, 1965, The Beatles performed in New York at Shea Stadium in front of the largest crowd to ever see a concert (to that date). The 56,000 screaming fans completely drowned out The Beatles’ sound, and the Fab Four couldn’t even hear what each other was playing. This was the first rock concert to be held in a sports stadium, thus launching a new age in rock: Stadium Rock. After this, crowds got bigger, and sound systems got more powerful.
