AUDIO: Soundgarden's "Been Away Too Long" Was Worth The Wait!
Soundgarden haven't issued an album since 1996's Down on the Upside, so it's safe to say fans of the Seattle grunge group have been waiting a while for the upcoming reunion album, King Animal (due November 13th).
While they were commissioned to write "Live To Rise" for the Avengers Assemble movie soundtrack, he band's new single "Been Away Too Long" is the first real Soundgarden track in 15 years.. and they haven't lost a step!
A "Summertime Blues"-style setup has Chris Cornell musing over whether or not it's possible to "go home again," as the rest of the band back him up with a crunchy pop riff. "No one loves or hates me," he howls self-deprecatingly on the cut.
Elsewhere, Kim Thayil lets loose some fretboard-wiggling leads, and Ben Shepherd also gets to bestow upon us a bit of a bass solo. Give it a listen here..
