Playstation finally confirmed the release of the upcoming PS4!

A lot of the rumors were confirmed during the press conference. The console will be extremely powerful and versatile sporting an x86 processor with 8 CPU cores, an enhanced GPU and 8GB of memory. The development environment and PC-like architecture will be flexible enabling developers to fully unleash their creativity and visions. There will be a suspend/resume function like on the Vita that will put the console in a low power state and save your current game in the RAM. The new dual-shock controller will have improved responsiveness but also has new features like a touch pad similar to the Vita, a stereo camera for 3D position tracking, a headphone jack, a share button and a light bar that will indentify players and be used for some basic motion sensor.

The PS4 will integrate device interconnectivity via the console, Web aps, mobile and the Vita. Integration with the Vita will enable remote play that the goal is to have all PS4 games playable on the Vita just like on the WiiU.

The PS4 is focused on socially enriched content. You'll be able to upload and share game capture videos, watch friends play in real time, broadcast your screen so others can watch you play and of course, play with your friends via the PSN.

The integration of Gaikai technology to the PSN means a faster network, social media integration, spectating (broadcasting your game) and cloud integration enabling you to play everything everywhere and not just for PS4 games, their goal is to make the entire Playstation catalogue portable all the way back to the first PSone title. A feature that got us excited was Free Exploration which will enable you to play free instant demos of all games in the PS Store.

Developers like Capcom, Square Enix and Ubisoft came to tease their new IPs, engines and upcoming PS4 titles. Indie developer Jonathan Blow presented PS4 exclusive game open world puzzle game The Witness promised to deliver a compact and rich experience. New to the Playsation environment are Bungie, with the acclaimed Destiny, and Blizzard, with a port of Diablo III for the PS3 and PS4. New titles of popular franchise were announced like Killzone 4 and Infamous Second Son.

As expected and much to our disappointment, no image of the actual console was shown. The release date is set to be "Holiday 2013" which we all know that means Black Friday. Further details regarding the PS4 and upcoming titles will surely be released at E3.
