First grader shaves his head in honour of friend going through chemo

This is the sweetest thing ever!

First-grader Vincent Butterfield recently showed up to school with a shaved head.

"I cut it off to make Zac feel like he's not the only one without any hair," the 7-year-old boy told KSDK.

Even with frequent trips to the hospital, Zac rarely missed a day of school at Central Elementary in Union, Missouri, motivated by the fact that he gets "to play with Vincent outside at recess."

When Vincent learned that Zac's treatments were expensive, he sold more than 20 homemade scarves and contributed more than $200 to Zac's medical bills.

"I sold them so the doctors can fix him," Vincent told TODAY.

When a reporter asked Vincent to define friendship, his response reflected a wisdom beyond his years:

"A beautiful thing," he answered.
