They weren't doing stuff like this when i was a kid!

"Boardwalk Empire" definitely isn't kid-friendly which is why this is so weird. "Sesame Street" did a spoof of it called "Birdwalk Empire", where two rival bird gangs go at it.

Since it's "Sesame Street", they resolve everything peacefully and everyone ends up friends.  If you've never seen the show, here's the intro they're parodying. 

They also did a spoof of "Mad Men" back in 2009, and one for "True Blood" in 2010.)
