McCartney offspring

So, I mentioned this morning that James McCartney, Paul's son.. duh.. is working on an album for release later this year.  The younger McCartney is currently touring Scotland, and says that the music for his new album is "inspired by The Beatles.. basically rock 'n roll, clean sounding, heartfelt and vocal."

I just thought that if Paul McCartney were to color his hair (...a little lighter than he already does... heh heh) that he would look a lot like his son.  See for yourself.

Great day indeed.  =)  We talked about 'chick rockers' on the Electric Lunch Hour in honour of the day.  I found some sound advice from one of those rockers.  It's Chrissie Hynde's advice for future chick rockers.  She should've called it "Hynde Sight" but I digress..  Overall, it seems like some good advice for a rockin' attitude, so something for everyone.  =)

Olympic medallists or common criminals? You decide... =)

We've all been enjoying the effects of Olympic fever.  It's great to be able to support the athletes, and cheer them on from our homes or favourite watering hole.  That great unifying feeling, as we wear our Canada hoodiesm long-sleeved t's or red Olympic mitts.

It's also fun to check on the latest winners to check on the daily winners on the official site.  My curiosity is then peaked daily, as the head shots of the athletes are a combination of 'photo from the booth at the mall' and mug shot.  Click HERE to see what I mean.  Go Canada go!!

The Who rocked it during the half-time show at the Super Bowl on Sunday!  Our annual reminder that age doesn't factor into what makes for rockin' entertainment.  And, yes they did get to all the CSI theme songs.  =)  Check it out!

The Super Bowl Shuffle!!

As we get set for the big show in the NFL, it's fun to look back on the winning team from January of '86.  The Chicago Bears beat the New England Patriots 46-10 for their first win since 1963, and leading up to Super Bowl they put their groove on the line and raised money for charity.  A team bonding experience that we all benefit from... =)

Lookin' back on profanity GNR style!

Guns N' Roses were big winners at the American Music Awards back in 1990.  We were all winners that night for watching the party brought on stage, and watching the rockers have no real concern for not being allowed to swear on tv.  Not like we'd never heard the words before, but it's funny how watching it happen makes us feel like kids and that they're gonna get grounded or something for using bad language.  =)  A moment in rock.. here's how it *$#!%'n happened.  =o

John McEnroe lets it out!

Back in 1990, John McEnroe was tossed from a tennis match at the Australian Open for his behaviour.  It was the first time since 1963 that someone was from a Grand Slam Tournament for misconduct.  He's never had a problem with keeping his feelings bottled up... check out the video from that decisive moment.

Is "The Fonz" still cool?

Fri, 2010-01-15 11:13.

A heavy question, I know. Happy Days debuted on this day back in '74, and for the most part we got our weekly dose of cool through this tough guy in a wind-breaker.  The Fonz would develop into a leather jacket AND a central character on the show, and part of our life.  On our lunch boxes, pencil cases, t-shirts etc.  He was an idol, a role model who taught us things; life lessons about friendship, tolerance and being a stand up guy.  Sure his "office" was the men's bathroom in a diner.  Yes, he was a gang member and ok he usually had a few chicks on the go at once... but he was loyal, and that's cool.

Rush Canada's Ambassadors of Music

I mentioned on the Electric Lunch Hour that back in 1979 Rush were named Canada's Ambassadors of Music.  I found a blog site... more of a rant really.  It's a funny read about how these guys thinks that it shouldn't have been Rush but BTO.  Check it out HERE.  (and be sure to hit the link for the pic that they've included about Rush in kimonos!!)  =)

Tiger talk!

I mentioned that EA Sports would be standing by Tiger Woods.  They were quoted as recognizing the split between personal and business, and that they would be going forward with the launch of a new online game called Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online.  I also mentioned that Siegfried & Roy officially announced their retirement from playing/entertaining with tigers... but I'm sure you came here for the link for a trial for the game, so here ya go!  Click read more
