Earlier this week Queen drummer Roger Taylor unveiled a competition to put together a Queen tribute band. Auditions are now open for vocalists, guitarists, drummers, bass players and keyboardists for the Queen Extravaganza tour, which will hit the road next year. Taylor says this "will not be a traditional tribute show. It's a brand-new show specially designed to enable fans to celebrate the music of Queen in a heart-stopping event. It's going to be very visual, there are going to be some shocks and some tremendous surprises. It will be a rock celebration in the royal tradition." Log onto

Taylor is the show's producer and music director, and he'll be a judge at the final audition round in Los Angeles in early December. Yesterday just after after four days in Roger Taylor is already excited... he got a call Wednesday telling him about a singer in his early 20s who's "just brilliant... That's very exciting."

I think I know who got Roger all excited. His name is Marc Martell, who fronts a Christian rock group from Saskatchewan called Downhere. He sounds like and even slightly resembles Mercury.
