Everybody is doing the #icebucketchallenge. I did it, Terry did it (Esteban? Heather?). Of course, there are people online who are questioning it. So, is this a "win" for ALS when it comes to branding and social media?

Ferguson becomes another example of We, The People and We, The Media. Twitter's co-founder, Jack Dorsey, is from St. Louis so he went home to take part in the protest and, obviously, to document everything on Twitter and Vine.

Samsung buys SmartThings for $200 million. Google has Nest. Here comes the Internet of Things.

App of the week: Hanx Writer. Yes, Tom Hanks love old, antique typewriters, so he built a writing app (for iPad only) that replicates the sound and look of classic typewriters. A few are free and others you have to buy.
