Ubisoft announced today that the DLC single player add-on, Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry, will be launched as a stand-alone game, exclusively for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC.
“We decided to release Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry as a stand-alone game for both fans and newcomers to the Assassin’s Creed universe,” said Lucile Bousquet, senior director of marketing and communications, Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry delivers key elements of an Assassin’s Creed game, including a new hero, new environments and new weapons.”
Freedom Cry follows the story of Adawale, a slave-born assassin. Adewale, who was also part of Edward’s pirate crew in Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag, has been shipwrecked in 18th century Haiti. In an effort to get his ship back into the open waters, he ventures into the slavery-driven world of Maroon to hire crew and gain weapons. In the process he is often encountered with his memories of the past and must confront them in order to achieve freedom once again.
Along with a new crew, Adewale also has a set of new weapons, including a machete and a blunderbuss.
