We’re not talking about the Xbox One vs the PS4 here, we’re talking about the console war of our childhood: Nintendo vs Sega.
According to a Booktrade press release, Sony Pictures acquired the movie rights on the upcoming book Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation by Blake Harris.
The movie will be written and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and produced by Scott Rudin. Rogen and Goldberg recently wrote and directed the post-apocalyptic comedy This Is The End for Sony in which they both played themselves.
Harris will serve as executive producer for Rogen and Goldberg's film and is also co-directing a documentary on Console Wars, with Rudin, Rogen and Goldberg producing as well.
The Console Wars book is due out in August and is described on Amazon as "a mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video game industry."
A release date is yet to be announced for the movie.
