Heartbleed: Are You Affected?

You've probably heard about this Hearbleed bug in the news. It is an encryption flaw that has caused the biggest security threat the internet has ever seen. It has hit some of the major websites on the net (like Facebook and Gmail) and even the Canadian Tax Agency has shut its online doors for filing tax returns until this weekend.

What makes it really scary is that it is not clear which companies have been compromised and which have not. Mashable has taken it into their own hands to reach out to major websites for clarification if they had been hit by the bug. The have compiled a great list that everyone who uses the internet today should check to see if they need to update their passwords on websites that they use.

We have listed some of the highlights below, selecting those that relate to Canadian internet users. The full list is available here. As you embark on the quest to update your online passwords, here is a great random password generator to help you.

Was it affected? Is there a patch? Do you need to change your password?
