Amazing Fan-Made Akira Trailer, With Montreal Roots

Check out this fan-made live action trailer for Akira, the famed cyberpunk anime that takes place in a dystopian version of Tokyo. The rights to Akira were purchased in 2002 by Warner Bros, but not much development has happened since. Wanting to see their favourite anime come to life sooner rather than later, The Akira Project was born to create a crowd-sourced, non-profit live action trailer.

The funding for the project came from a campaign on Indigogo in July of 2012. The trailer was shot in Montreal from November 2-5th in 2012 by the Montreal production company CineGround and the post production took over a year and a half. The final trailer has the creative involvement of more that 40 artists in 12 countries across the world.

Warner Bros. has a lot to live up to!
