It's hard to argue against a collection of John Fogerty songs, but this brief set -- although it has some great material drawn both from Fogerty's time as leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival and his subsequent on-again, off-again solo career -- just doesn't do justice to its title, The Best Of The Songs Of John Fogerty. There's great stuff here, of course, like the original versions of "Have You Ever Seen the RainNULL," "Down on the Corner," "Born on the Bayou," and "Lodi," each of which is a classic of sorts, but where is "Proud Mary," "Favorite Son," "Green River," or any number of other Fogerty songs that are every bit as goodNULL Each of these could have been included on this woefully short collection and then -- and only then -- would it start to live up to its title. Read More
