Despite the presence of an all-star personnel (which includes trumpeter Wallace Roney, trombonist Robin Eubanks, Ralph Moore on tenor, altoist Steve Coleman and pianist James Williams), the focus on The Road Less Traveled is on drummer Marvin "smitty" Smith's originals.
