Jimmy Reed - Classic Recordings

This three-CD, 55-song box is the most comprehensive domestic retrospective of Reed's career (a six-CD box is available on import). The material is fine and consistent, but this isn't the best deal for either the average fan or the completist. Reed is one of the most homogenous blues greats, and unless your interest is deep, three CDs at once will become monotonous; you're better off with one of the several fine single-disc compilations available. Also, this has no information whatsoever on release dates or session info, and inexplicably omits one of his two Top 40 hits, "Honest I Do" (covered by The Rolling Stones on their first album). Read More
