Pearl Harbour - Here Comes Trouble

East Bay Ray is best known for being a member of the Dead Kennedys (one of the finest punk bands to come out of the San Francisco Bay Area) from 1978-1987, but in 1995, he took part in a very different project when he backed singer Pearl Harbour. While the Dead Kennedys were best known for angry sociopolitical protest songs like "Nazi Punks, Fuck Off" and "California Uber Alles," there's nothing sociopolitical about Here Comes Trouble. The goal of this California singer was obviously to have some wild, reckless fun, and she does exactly that on such punky power-pop as "Dream Car," "You've Got My Number" and "Have Love Will Travel." Harbour's voice has a Joan Jett-ish quality, and her often catchy songs combine punk/new wave sensibilities with different types of 1960s music, including surf rock, British Invasion rock and girl-group post-doo wop. Read More
