Not just the boogie, but some serious blues too. This 1976 concert recording caught Hooker up close, giving both voice and guitar a lot of force. A candidate for best John Lee Hooker live album, complete with Hooker standards like "Boogie Chillen," "Hobo Blues" and "Crawling King Snake" (which comes equipped with a phantom harmonica player), it suffers only from being on the short side at forty-four minutes or so, dropping the listener into a silent void just as things are getting really warmed up. Read More
