K Rad - Deli Mood Spot

K Rad's debut album isn't really the group's debut. The trio -- Mark Handy, Chris Grabowski, and Joe Hahn -- had already released over a dozen CD-Rs on their website, www.padk-rad.com. So, in a sense, the members of K Rad were quite experienced producers going into Deli Mood Spot, and that experience is partly what makes this album so listener friendly. It's not your typical techno/house album with countless variations on the same concept. Rather, K Rad disregards convention on Deli Mood Spot, instead aiming for eccentricity. The result is surely that, every song incorporating different sounds and different approaches to beat construction. The music is often odd and rarely downright rhythmic, but that's what's most wonderful about it. Overall, Deli Mood Spot is never predictable or generic. K Rad makes exciting music, and even if they do make a lot of it, they never seem to come up short on ideas as this "debut" album proves. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
