Like other titles in Universal's 20th Century Masters -- Dvd Collection series of discount-priced video best-ofs, this one devoted to Extreme contains only five music videos and runs a mere 21 minutes. Still, it really does contain, as its title declares, the best of Extreme, encapsulating the band's career in that amount of time. The five videos are in the order of the band's first five entries in Billboard's "Mainstream Rock" chart, starting with "Kid Ego" from the debut album Extreme, followed by the four best-known songs from Pornografitti: "Decadence Dance," "More Than Words," "Hole Hearted," and "Get the Funk Out." All five are performance videos, with added elements such as a facetious list of do's and don't's during "Decadence Dance," and a midget, a beauty queen, and a horn section during "Get the Funk Out." On "Kid Ego," the band, playing in what looks like a stage set minus the surrounding arena and crowd, comes on practically like a parody of an '80s hair metal outfit, shaking their long, teased hair and jean-clad backsides as the cameras tip and sway and the cuts come fast and furious. Read More
