Country-rock journeyman bass player Clyde "skip" Battin was part of the duo Skip & Flip that scored three chart entries in 1959-1960, including "It Was I" and "Cherry Pie," both of which reached number 11. He formed The Evergreen Blueshoes in the mid-'60s and was a member of The Byrds from 1969 to 1972, playing bass and singing.
