Great Lakes

Yet one more outgrowth of the ever-expanding Elephant 6 family tree, Athens, GA-based psychedelic pop combo the Great Lakes began as the high school project of longtime friends Dan Donahue and Ben Crum. Multi-instrumentalist Jamey Huggins (also the drummer for local favorites Of Montreal) later joined the core roster, with Todd Kelley and Joel Evans also serving as frequent collaborators; the live Great Lakes lineup often expanded to as many as 11 members, among them the Gerbils' Scott Spillane and Of Montreal's Kevin Barnes, Dottie Alexander and Derek Almstead.
