On his debut 12" single of Leopard Pillow, Richard Panic used his surroundings in the Detroit techno scene as an inspiration for combining '80s new wave and '90s British pop. Released through Spectator Records in 1999, Panic looked up to the likes of Pulp and Suede while mixing a heavy layer of instrumental techno-pop. Armed with his synthesizers, drum machine, and electric guitars, Spectator Records eventually followed with Panic's second 12-inch, Wake Up Panic Wake Up, the following year. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
