Playing electro-acoustic folk-pop in a style that's at once beautiful and enigmatic, Safe Home came together in the wake of the breakup of shoegazer rockers The Nightblooms. After the group disbanded, vocalist Esther Sprikkelman returned to the Netherlands and intended to leave the music business for good. However, she soon found herself dreaming up ideas for new songs, and so she began collaborating with Nightblooms guitarist Harry Otten, with Sprikkelman writing lyrics and Sprikkelman and Otten sharing credit for the music. The two put together a home studio, and with the help of producer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Mitchell, they began recording their new compositions in their spare time. In the spring of 2001, Safe Home released their debut CD EP, Travel in Time, and through the remainder of the year they put out a series of five 7" vinyl singles on their own Angels In Space label. In May of 2002, Safe Home combined several tracks from the single series with new material to make up their first full-length album, You Can't Undo What's Already Undid. ~ Mark Deming, All Music Guide
