40 Years, Baby!!!!
HERE'S TO ANOTHER 140!!!
So our day started off at 7.45am, inside CHOM studios - Champagne all around - FOR THE BIG RE-LAUNCH!!! Celebrating 40 years of Rockin' and kicking off another 140 (at least!)... Very nostalgic, with a look-back from a guy who's been pretty much around since day 1.. TOOTALL!!! Toots gave some candid memories and background history on what was the old CHOM studios on Greene Ave... We talked, we laughed had some bubbly - it was a great ol' time!!! Also announced the arrival of "The Chom Army"... You'll be hearing a whole bunch on this in the very near future - bascially a limited number of CHOM (stainless-steel) badges - just like the cops - please don't try arresting anyone.... To get you into concerts, movies etc before anyone else!!! Also this is your ticket to winning daily concert tickets and maybe even a Sunwing Vacation to the DR!!!! Yeah baby!!! FULL STEAM AHEAD!!!!
BEWARE!!!
Someone is trying to lure club owners into paying five-thousand dollars for a solo gig by Boston's Tom Scholz -- but it's a scam. Scholz says, "The most upsetting part of this is knowing your name has been used to swindle people out of their hard-earned money... If anyone has doubts about an advertised appearance by Boston...they should check our website, BandBoston.com, or contact Agency for the Performing Arts or our publicist, Gail Parenteau."
Scholz is working on a new Boston album and has no plans to tour this year... So Montreal club owners - if you get an email from Tom - might wanna check it out!!!
FROM THE HART!!!
Always giving back, Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart will hold a benefit for the Haiti earthquake victims on February 13th. Mickey Hart's Heartbeat for Haiti Benefit at the Fillmore in San Francisco will feature a number of Hart's friends, including Giovanni Hidalgo, Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Amos Lee. A silent auction will be hosted by Jerry Garcia's ex-wife, Mountain Girl. Proceeds from the night will benefit the What If Foundation and Partners in Health.
..AND THE WINNER IS...
Not really getting this - might need some help?!? The latest news on Aerosmith has Soundgarden's frontman Chris Cornell, on Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry's short list to replace Steven Tyler. Perry apparently also extended invitations to Paul Rodgers and Billy Idol. A source says, "Cornell...didn't take Joe's request very seriously. He thought he was joking and was surprised when Joe said he wasn't. In fact, I overheard Cornell telling Joe, '[expletive] off -- can you imagine how ridiculous that would be?'" Cornell plans to reunite with Soundgarden this year.
In addition to Rodgers, Idol and Cornell, Perry was reportedly interested in Lenny Kravitz?!?!
So why aren't these guys jumping at the offer??? Do they understand the scope of it all?!? COME ON!!!!
