Bloggin' Ball

It's no wonder why I'm a bit sore today. My action-packed weekend included a birthday party for my friend Alana on Saturday afternoon at Fort Angrignon where we split into teams and competed for points in a bunch of challenges; some required protective head wear and knee pads 'cause of the crawling and climbing. It was totally fun!! Alana sent a thank you today and described it perfectly by saying, "what a way to celebrate being 40... by acting 12." Interesting note... bruised knees on a not-yet-40 year old are a) not pretty and b) an easy set up for off-color, wink-wink, nudge-nudge kind of jokes... made immediately by this not-yet-40 year old. =) The action continued with the All Star Basketball Tournament at John Rennie High School. The events of the weekend raised about 15-thousand dollars for the Sian Bradwell Fund for Children With Cancer. Some of my co-workers from CHOM 97-7, Mix 96 and CJAD 800 got a team together and we got to play the Montreal Alouettes. I'm happy to say that we only lost by 4 points. I should also say that we had some ringers (read: actual basketball players) helping us out. (Thanks guys!!)
I don't know if basketball skills have anything to do with the success on the football field, but the obvious team spirit that a lot of Als fans saw on the court yesterday probably has something to do with it. ...oh yeah... they are also very big men, which doesn't hurt... except if you're being blocked by them. :o
Check out www.sianbradwell.com to see all the good they do, and for upcoming events, like the annual softball tournament coming up in August.
