BLOGALOT

It appears to me that I'm blogging a bit more than usual lately; it can be a great release.  September 11th.  Today is one of those historical days where we can all quickly recall where we were, or what we were doing when the terrorist attacks happened back in 2001.  I think I blogged about it on this day last year.  Anyway, today I mentioned it on the air; I wanted to give it some attention, and still keep the listening day light.  In doing so, however I made a mistake and said "...five years ago" instead of six.  I know that I made this mistake, because someone called to tell me.  Some people recognize human error when they spot it, while others can be keenly aware of these mistakes, and then are quick to point them out as if it were done on purpose.  That was the vibe I got on the phone today. 

The fellow that called told me that I was "not allowed to make a mistake like that on this day."  I didn't even know that I made it, but did tell him where my head was at the time.  The images from the attacks are still fresh and make me short of breath, so I looked away from my computer.  I was thinking that I was on the air that day... Greene Avenue... then thought 'wow, we've been in the Fort St. building for five years...'  Perhaps that's where the five year reference came from.  I know that it didn't come from any intent to disrespect the day, the lives of the people it directly affected or the memory of the lives lost.   I'm hopeful that I won't have to deal with that kind of a scare any closer than I did on September 11, 2001, and if the worst is a phone call to point out my error then I'll take it. 

The call that came after that one was for a request for Jimi Hendrix... that was my cue to move on.
