WEILAND BACK IN OUT OF THE SLAMMER:

BB_weiland
Former VELVET REVOLVER singer SCOTT WEILAND checked into a California jail on Monday morning at 9am to serve eight days for a second DUI conviction.. only to be released the same day!

He was officially booked in by noon and not more than 10 hours later, was released at around 7pm. Looks like he beat the system AGAIN.. but SCOTT will be on probation for the next 4 years.

On April 28, the singer was sentenced to the jail term after he pleaded no contest to DUI following a Nov. 11 arrest. He was also ordered to complete an 18-month alcohol education class and pay nearly $2,000 in fines.

WEILAND, 40, has run afoul of the law numerous times over the years: He was convicted of DUI after a 2003 arrest in Hollywood, arrested on domestic-violence charges in 2001, and jailed for drug offenses in the 1990s.

On April 1, VELVET REVOLVER band members announced they were splitting with the singer, citing his "increasingly erratic" behavior.

Meanwhile, WEILAND has reunited with his previous band, the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS.

OZZFEST 2008 - ONE-OFF SHOW REPLACES TOUR:

BB_ozzy
OZZFEST 2008 will make its debut as a one-day stadium event instead of the usual North American tour.  For the first time, OZZY OSBOURNE will nix the tour and force OZZFEST fans to make the trek to the Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, Texas on August 9th for his annual metal extravaganza.

The lineup includes: SYSTEM OF A DOWN's SERJ TANKIAN, KORN's JONATHAN DAVIS, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEVENDUST, DROWNING POOL and more.. including an all-star tribute to late PANTERA guitarist DIMEBAG DARRELL.

Festival co-producer, and OZZY's sugar-mama, SHARON OSBOURNE assured fans that the new one-day OZZFEST format wasn't a permanent thing, adding, "Ozzy just finished an 11-month world tour, so I think he deserves a summer off."

LOCAL ARTIST SPOTLIGHT:

BB_malcolmbauld
MALCOLM BAULD

You might say that Montreal based singer-songwriter Malcolm Bauld has been trying to make up for a nickname-less youth. To attempt the unenviable task of playing every city or town in Canada (when was the last time you rocked Okotoks, Alberta? ) you’re going to need some help.

Greg Macpherson, Billy the Kid, Statues, Tom Fun Orchestra, Horses and Anthem Red have all played a role in his touring life. In Montreal you’re likely to find him picking up whatever’s on stage or in the studio and helping out folks like Dirty Tricks, Pawa Up First, Yesterday’s Ring, Plastic Patrick, and Fifth Hour Hero to name a few. He’s supported Amos Lee, Jets To Brazil, The Constantines, The New Amsterdams, Crooked Fingers, The Living End and The Weakerthans at home.

On his most recent recordings you’ll hear members of Sudbury power pop combo Statues (Radio 81, Pelado Records). Other tracks have included members of Montreal punks The Sainte Catherines (Fat Records), Mike Feuerstack (Snailhouse) and Abigail Lapell. Brought up on a steady diet of everything from seventies brit punk to American folk, Bauld is clearly hooked on the melodies and rhythms of simple, honest rock and roll.
