The Recovery..
GET 'EM NEXT YEAR!!
Well not exactly the outcome we were looking for but what a game! Probably the best Superbowl I can remember - everything just worked.. The 2 best teams in the league in a very close battle of inches... Kinda nice to see New Orleans (city whose had it's fair share of crap kicked in it's face) win a Superbowl - just wish it had been the Colts.. Oh well next year... Huge draw was The Who playing halftime.. 2 words: MIND-BLOWING!!! Just an awesome performance that has again awakened my need to see these guys live!!!
The Who performing on a lighted circular stage made to look like their bulls eye logo, complete with lasers and pyro, they did portions of five songs in 12 minutes. In order, they were "Pinball Wizard," "Baba O'Riley," "Who Are You," "See Me, Feel Me" and "Won't Get Fooled Again."
Workin' For The Weekend!!!
ALL IN FOR OWL'S HEAD!!
Ya - just like the Loverboy song, right!? The CHOM Bernard Trottier Ski Team all set for another great outing - this week we're down at Owl's Head... It'll be streamed live right, HERE. Also, Steve Winwood who'll be doing the Pre-Game honors will do his press-conference at 2.30 [ET], where you can stream live right, HERE.
SAINTS GOIN' DOWN...!!
Alright very psyched for this one... Seems like it took forever to come?!? Can't wait to see the two best teams do battle at the big game.... Rock will be heavily represented this weekend (for once?!) during the game & commercials..
The music of KISS and Cheap Trick will be featured in commercials shown during Super Bowl 44 on Sunday on C-B-S.
All In!!!
ALL BETS.. ON!!!!
OK so big news today the Quebec Government getting into the online gambling racket... Great news for us, eh?! Apparently they want to take a bite out of the illegal trade (understandable but good luck!) Just think about all the revenue they'll be able to raise for roads, schools and hospitals.. Ready for it, OK GET SET - GO!!! Other weird news today - it was revealed that President Obama will NOT be attending our Olympic Games in Vancouver??? No opening ceremonies, no closing... Do you care? Does it matter? Just figured close neighboors and the largest free border in the WORLD?!?! I mean come on!!! He's sending Joe Biden instead... Maybe he'll say something - funny.. Never know?! Speaking of saying funny stuff - check out good ol' Mel Gibson talking about his newest movie "Edge of Darkness".. The funny part is right at the end! Ckeck it!
GET LOST!
Ok so just in case you missed Tuesday night's double lost episode... Here's what you need to know - also see below for the ultimate recap!!!
Though it sounds impossible, things got even more confusing on last night's season premiere of Lost...
40 Years, Baby!!!!
HERE'S TO ANOTHER 140!!!
So our day started off at 7.45am, inside CHOM studios - Champagne all around - FOR THE BIG RE-LAUNCH!!! Celebrating 40 years of Rockin' and kicking off another 140 (at least!)... Very nostalgic, with a look-back from a guy who's been pretty much around since day 1.. TOOTALL!!! Toots gave some candid memories and background history on what was the old CHOM studios on Greene Ave... We talked, we laughed had some bubbly - it was a great ol' time!!! Also announced the arrival of "The Chom Army"... You'll be hearing a whole bunch on this in the very near future - bascially a limited number of CHOM (stainless-steel) badges - just like the cops - please don't try arresting anyone.... To get you into concerts, movies etc before anyone else!!! Also this is your ticket to winning daily concert tickets and maybe even a Sunwing Vacation to the DR!!!! Yeah baby!!! FULL STEAM AHEAD!!!!
BEWARE!!!
Someone is trying to lure club owners into paying five-thousand dollars for a solo gig by Boston's Tom Scholz -- but it's a scam. Scholz says, "The most upsetting part of this is knowing your name has been used to swindle people out of their hard-earned money... If anyone has doubts about an advertised appearance by Boston...they should check our website, BandBoston.com, or contact Agency for the Performing Arts or our publicist, Gail Parenteau."
Deep *%$@# Freeze!?!?

WORST EVER?!?!?
Love to hear your thoughts on this... Can't say that I agree with this but what do YOU think... Drop me a note at Brandon@Chom.com...
Peter Frampton's monster 1976 album Frampton Comes Alive ruined music -- at least according to Spike.com. The site says, "The fact that Frampton Comes Alive went on to become the biggest-selling live album ever in such a short period of time showed that there was big money to be made in music... It ushered in the era of pop stars and turned musicians into products and brands overnight."
What Will He Do????
AXL ROSE
18 years later and they're back - well one of 'em at least!!! Even if you're not a fan, you're still probably wondering what's going to happen, right? Not a problem - just keep it locked on 97.7 and we'll keep you up date on any happenings - CHOM's Bilal from the Buttshow will be down on the field at the Bell Ctr. for some "in-depth" analysis.. THE END???
The upcoming album and tour by the Scorpions will mark the end of the German band. In a post on their website Sunday they said, "While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was -- and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion's extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we've always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will take us to five different continents over the next few years. We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!"here is no release date yet for the new album, Sting in the Tail. The tour starts on March 15th in Prague. The Scorpions have posted snippets of two songs from the new album on their website, which you can hit - HERE!
Winter (sort-of) Fest
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!
So apparently it's winter... I think. Loving it this year with easy temperatures to deal with & virtually no sphincter clinching wind chills! Yeah Baby!!! Actually feel like getting out there and rocking winter!?! It's amazing!!! And great timing too!! Tonight (the Fests second week) will feature Mark Farina on the decks down at The Jacques Cartier Keys - you can get all the info HERE.
Also of note is La Fete des Neiges de Montreal happening from Jan. 23 to February 7th - more of a family affair, so feel free to bring the kids!!! Check it all out HERE!
Had another one of those days where you take a nap and wake-up thinking you slept for a week??!? First, I heard that Jean Beliveau was hospitalized the other night for a stroke but his life not in danger - so good news there! And then, news that Georges Laraque has been cut for the Habs??? Bob Gainey stating that he was unproductive and a distraction to the team!!! Have to agree but what's up with the timing - not the nicest time (Haiti etc.) to do it... Then again - this is WAR, right!!! Gotta do something and fast!!!
OH, EMMANUELLE!
Alright, more proof on how Montreal women RULE THE WORLD!!! AskMen.com has released the results of its annual Top 99 Most Desirable Women poll -- and Megan Fox didn't even crack the Top 10.
Let There Be Sports!!!
OH MAN!!
Well I had this huge in-depth analysis on all the happenings this past weekend on the wide world of sports but due to unforeseen COMPUTER @#$%^@ problems... Have to give you the abridged version!!!? Habs 2 time losers this weekend: 4-2 to the Senators & 6-2 to the Rangers!?! 'Nuff said. Now for the Football - my million-dollar-GUARANTEED-picks all got thrown out - just know this: Colts are to play NY Jets (take Colts) and Saints will play the Vikings (tough one here but go Saints... Brees was on fire last Saturday!!!). That's for conference and then Superbowl, baby!!!! Check NLF.com for all the latest!!!
HOCKEY NIGHT IN RUSH LAND

Weekend Time!!!!
S.O.S. HAITI
Lots of footage pouring in from all over Haiti - tons of really bad scenes... See for yourself HERE. What's needed right now is cold, hard cash to get the emergency supplies where neede - you're being urged to donate anything you can, to CECI.CA... Non-profit group on the ground in Haiti; already in the know of what's needed... Also, Twitter continues to connect the world to the earthquake victims in Haiti. It's been the go-to site for eyewitness reports on the devastation in the capital of Port-au-Prince, and key in the mobilization of relief efforts. Celebs are tweeting to ask their followers for support...
- Ellen DeGeneres, Christina Applegate, Jessica Alba and Ryan Seacrest are among those urging followers to donate 10-dollars to the Red Cross by texting the word "Haiti" to 9-0-9-9-9.
- Jeremy Piven tweeted, "Text 'yele' to 5-0-1-5-0-1 to give five-dollars to the relief fund on your phone bill through Yele Haiti Fund."
- Paula Abdul, Ashton Kutcher and Ben Stiller all posted links to donate to UNICEF.
- Larry King directed followers to C-N-N's list of reputable relief organizations.
- Mark Wahlberg: "Thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti. More info at RedCross.org or check with your local churches."
- Jennifer Lopez: "My thoughts and prayers go out in support of the folks affected."
BON JOVI WANTS YOU!!!!
Bon Jovi will turn their appearance on this month's Grammy Awards into an exercise in democracy by letting fans decide what tune they play. The voting isn't wide open -- there are six songs to choose from at CBS.com/Grammys, and you have until 11-59 p-m [ET] on January 24th to have your say. You'll then be able to then pick from three finalists right up until showtime on January 31st. -- David Sprague
WAHOO!!!
YA BABY!!!!
So glad to be with you Weeknights 8pm to Midnight!!! Love those long & lonely overnights but guess it was time.. Hopefully we can still discuss alien abduction; swine-flu-micro-chip implants and all that good stuff!!! Would just like to take this opportunity to thank all the regulars who call in to make my night so enjoyable - don't be strangers - same phone number and still FREE!!! Great to be with ya - hopefully the start of a long & loving relationship!!!
S.O.S HAITI
Crazy images still pouring out of Haiti with hundreds of thousands feared dead & missing.. Not sure if you've seen any footage on TV but this is really bad! Like Tsunami bad!!! Buildings that once stood tall are now completely gone or reduced to nothing more than rubble!!! Lots of people in dire need of any aid possible... The Red Cross asking for cash donations of any amount. You can reach them here: 1-800-418-1111 or by clicking on the link. Thank-you!
BEAT FOR PEACE
Last Saturday was the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) between North and South Sudan. In 365 days a referendum is due to be held to determine the future of Sudan. But, there is a real danger that war will return. To mark this, a series of events are being held in 15 countries calling on world leaders to do more to avoid a return to civil war.
A Good Day!
YA, WELL YOU KNOW...
OK so let's admit it - we've been pretty darn lucky when it comes to weather so far, compared to the rest of the country/world.... Blaming El Nino or whatever - good thing we had that climate change summit in Copenhagen last month!!! Anyway, can't remember the last time it's been this nice?!? So won't complain!!! What I will complain about is snow IN MY APARTMENT??!? You see, every time we get a snowfall that goes higher than the intake vent on my heater... I get a nice puddle and pile of snow in my place.... Now maybe I'm being picky but risk of electrocution and fire seem like valid worries in this case? That's why I was so happily delighted to wake up yesterday afternoon to see no snow inside! Yay! And thank-you to my landlord for "fixing" the problem - I hope it didn't cause too much inconvenience for ya!!! OK, staying positive....
On a sad note, The Medley has closed it's doors for the last time... New Year's Eve was their last night - officials say they aren't making a profit and the cost of fixing up the joint and getting it up to code are enormous and exorbitant... You might remember it as The Old Munich - a place where we all spent many a night... Seems like this keeps happening!? A while back it was The Rialto, then a few years ago The Spectrum... What's next? Hopefully we stop tearing these great places down and start REPLACING them!!!!
TIGER TOO!!!
Yesterday, a new twist was tacked onto the story of Van Morrison and the baby he allegedly fathered. After denying the report -- claiming someone had hacked onto his website -- Morrison is now threatening to sue the London tabloid the Daily Mail. The paper ran a story Sunday that strongly suggested that the baby is the result of a relationship with Gigi Lee.
..And We're Back!!!
2010, BABY!!!
Happy New Year 2010, may it be a prosperous, rocking, sexy good time for you and yours... There. I said it. My last official New Year's wish for 2010.. Gotta stop some time, right? Anyway, hopefully you had some good times over the past couple of weeks; relaxed & rested for the new year... Just looking out the window onto Fort Street and it's the weirdest thing?! No flying cars.... WTF?!?! Didn't someone say by 2010 we'd have flying cars??? I'd even settle for a rocket-pack or something, I mean COME ON!!! I don't know - we should really get on that!?!
Gone Christmassin'!!!
'TIS THE SEASON...
T'was the night before Christmas and all through the station, not a DJ was mixing - we we're all on vacation!!! I in my kerchi-- OK, OK you know where this is going... Save you the trouble -
MERRY FREAKIN' CHRISTMAS AND TO ALL A ROCKIN'-GOOD NIGHT!!!
CATCH YOU ON THE FLIP-SIDE IN '10!!!
The Office Party...
PART-TAY!!?
Well, that time of year again - office Christmas parties, celebrations and what not... Feel very lucky this year to have gotten one; not happening for lots of friends this year due to recession. So I'll take this opportunity to say thank-you to Astral Media for going ahead on it! The party served dual functions as our boss and fearless leader Mr. Bob Harris and his wife Kim Rossi, were being sent-off to their next challenge in Hamilton & St. Catherine's - can't believe it's been 6 years already?!? Time flies... Hopefully see you guys again, somewhere down the crazy river!!!
OH TARA!!!
(click pic for larger)
Not sure if you remember but you should... Tara Reid - the American Pie, The Big Lebowski and Van Wilder girl we all came to know after a (mis)fortunate "wardrobe malfunction" is now staging a bit of a comeback - kinda.. The first step of which appears to be telling the world her plastic surgery is all fixed and ready for viewing. What better way to accomplish that than posing topless for Playboy? Here, let the the 34-year-old out-of-work actress explain:
"I got it fixed and now I'm OK and I want people to know I'm OK," she told a New York's radio station. "I've had it done for the last five or six years, but people only want to show the old pictures.... [Google 'em if you haven't already seen...] It's so unfair. That's part of the reason why I did Playboy, to show people, 'Right, look at me. This is how I look now.' " ...And God bless her for that!!!
WInter...
YAAAAARGH!?!?
So what?! You thought we were going to go the whole winter at +5 something??? Sorry it's Montreal - not Vancouver... Doesn't matter - wouldn't trade it for the world!!! We're looking at 5 days of bitter cold along with bright sunshine - perfect weather for Christmas shopping, eh? Blistering cold into the roasting hot stores with all your winter garb?!? The most beautiful time of the year!!! Ya right! Good news is we're looking at above normal temps for Christmas & New Years!!! Like -2 or so.... Yay!!! Glass half-full BABIES!!!
THE WALL????
Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is contemplating taking The Wall on the road late next year. Speaking to David Frost on his Frost Over the World show last week, Waters said he's "crunching all the numbers at the moment." He's also working on a stage version of the piece, as well as a film of his Dark Side of the Moon tour and a new website.
Mission Accomplished!!!
SEE YA NEXT YEAR!
Feel the burn, baby!!! Just "getting back" from the 9th annual 24 Hours of Tremblant... It's a really cool fund-raising event they host up on the hill for sick kids...Small businesses to corporation to individual private donors; all assemble teams to run a 24 hour marathon of skiing! Basically we had around 12 people on our team, so everyone was put into 2hr. blocks and thanks to the cool heads of Solmaz Meghdadi & Peter McEntyre (our team captains) everything ran smooth like"buttah"!!! Very nicely done, guys! I was little worried about snow, leading up to the event but come on! This is Tremblant - the snow experts!!! Blowing snow all week + cold temperatures made for a nice Dec. 12 opener.... And with all the sponsors (Vitamin Water; Al Van Houtte and Snickers - to name a few) the bands/DJ's lots of fun!!! Hope to see you there next year for the big 10 year anniversary!?!
HERE WE GO!!!
It seems Guns n' Roses can't tour without some sort of controversy. This time, singer Axl Rose thought of cancelling the band's Far East tour -- and then got into a scuffle at the airport with some members of the paparazzi after he decided to take a last-minute flight to Taiwan... Not too much on this, all we know is there were quote " a few bloodied participants"... The rest of the band was already there and had been rehearsing and sound-checking without Rose. The band plays in Taiwan today, and then moves to Korea Saturday and Japan for two shows late next week.
OVER.
62-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has reportedly dumped his 21-year-old Russian girlfriend, Ekaterina Ivanova. His ex-wife Jo, who he left for Ekaterina after 24 years, tells London's Mirror, "He has split up with that girl for good." The break-up follows Wood's arrest last week for domestic assault, reportedly against Ekaterina... Only 40 years age difference - nobody saw this one coming?!!?
HOCKEY ROCK
Rush drummer Neil Peart recorded a rock version of "The Hockey Theme" for the Canadian sports network T-S-N this past Monday at Ocean Way Studios in Hollywood. It's Coming!!!
UGGGHHH!!!!
Well here we go again; another year and another WINTER!!! But you know what? We got lucky this year.. BIG TIME!!! My most hated month - the dreary, gross, boring and dull month of November, of course!!! So for glass half-full; we kinda got a bit of a head-start on winter... Half-empty; the season could be a little more intense with fluctuating temps. and a longer winter... But let's go with the positive... One month of winter already down (sort-of), as we gear-up for the 1st big storm... You can rest assured there will be no issues with snow removal this year, mayor Tremblay promises - ya. Believe it when I see it, too! Anyway were looking at 15-25 by Wednesday night - then temps. rising so get ready for slush and muck city!!! Couldn't have come at a better time as CHOM will be up Mt. Tremblant this weekend in support of the 24 Hours of Tremblant... hope to see y'all there!!!
NEW STUFF!
Brand new Smashing Pumpkins hitting the net... Very strange business model front-man Billy Corgan is employing here... He is giving away his music free hoping that you will become interested in it and keep coming back for more?!? Ya. He's gonna release 44 tracks free on-line... After every 4 tracks come out, they'll be sold together on one of 11 LE Ep's... And when they're all out, all 44 songs will be released in a single set?!!? Billy says, "I have to create the quality, and I have to assume that the quality will create interest, and the interest will come back to me somehow...?!?" What??? Well it could work, I guess - something gotta work at one point, no??? Anyway to hear the brand new song "A Song for a Son" - click HERE!
BY THAT MUCH!!!
Eric Clapton will follow up his four North American dates with Jeff Beck in February by embarking on a solo tour with The Who's Roger Daltrey opening. The tour will start on February 25th in Pittsburgh with dates through March 13th in Orlando.
Dark Day.
DECEMBER 6, 1989
20 years ago today, a deranged gunman walked into Ecole Polytechnique and brutally gunned down 14 totally innocent women, in the prime of their lives... Genevieve Bergeron; Helene Colgan; Nathalie Croteau; Barbara Daigneault; Anne-Marie Edward; Maud Haviernick; Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz; Maryse Leclair; Anne Marie Lemay; Sonia Pelletier; Michele Richard; Annie St. Arneault; Annie Turcotte - you are all remembered.
TIGER/RON WOODS
So now there's word that ol' Tiger might've had a few more "girlfriends" than expected (allegedly) with another Vegas model coming forward... Hey why not? Payoff's pretty good?!? Seems like these things always come in waves - especially when there's not much going on in the news!!! Now, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood was arrested Wednesday night in southern England on suspicion of domestic assault against his girlfriend, the smoking-hot, 20-year-old Ekaterina Ivanova. His spokesman says, "I can confirm that there was an incident [Wednesday] night and that Ronnie Wood was arrested. He has since been released on police bail." The police didn't reveal any details about the incident and plan to speak with the rocker further in January.
Wood was recently divorced from his wife of 24 years, Jo, after taking up with the young cocktail waitress. He reportedly has had a tempestuous relationship with Ivanova, including a fight in September in which she reportedly tried to kill herself.... So apparently not another day in paradise!!! Yeouch!
Onward!!!
BOYS BACK IN TOWN!!!
Oh man! Couldn't have asked for a better day for a parade celebrating the-way-overdue Al's Grey Cup victory... Yeah Baby. Beautiful sunny and warm temps. helped bring tens of thousands of you outside onto the street for some good ol' fashioned show-boatin'!!! A great season.... Al's off to rock the National Assembly??? today.... Party on guys!!! For some great shots of yesterday's fun, click HERE!
HERE WE GO....
The Grammy nominations hit prime time for a second year in a row as the Grammy Nominations Concert Live at Club Nokia in Los Angeles aired on C-B-S last night. The major nominees announced by a number of celebrities, including Ringo Starr, Smokey Robinson and comedian George Lopez. The 52nd annual Grammy Awards will air live from Staples Center in Los Angeles January 31st.... Something you didn't see on TV was Ringo... In the press-room at L.A.'s Conga Room immediately following the Grammy Award countdown show, sporting a bright red T-shirt with the mug shot of a young Frank Sinatra, rock'n'roll legend Ringo Starr recalled his reaction to the first time the Beatles were nominated for a Grammy Award. "I was 5, I think," he laughed. "It was long time ago; it was really weird at the time." Starr also noted that his pick for the 52nd Grammys is the Black Eyed Peas... Really.
ARTISTE, TOO!??
In addition to being a singer, paramedic and outdoors-man, David Lee Roth is also an artist. The Van Halen front-man has posted dozens of his drawings on his website, labelling the pieces "authentic originals and incompetent imitations." The artwork is available to download and print at no charge... Some really cool stuff to check out, HERE!
VEGAS, BABY!!!
Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and his tabla-playing buddy Zakir Hussain have re-designed the man-made volcano outside the Mirage hotel in Las Vegas -- and provided a new soundtrack for it. The project cost 25-million dollars... See for yourself - just below!
NEW MUSIC THIS WEEK
Not a whole heck of a lot to report this week – just a few post-holiday releases… Thank God for the Chipmunks!!!
Al's Win!!!!

RENT.... RECEIVED!!!
Well they came, they saw and man, did they kick-ass!!! Got to see The Dan this past Saturday at Place des Arts with my pals Bad Pete & Bilal... This show makes 3 (2 in 2007: Jazz & Ottawa Blues Fest) and I gotta say - best sounding one was definitely show #3!!! Might've been where we were sitting (this time) on the floor about 20 rows back - could really hear it - compared to balcony in '07 and outdoors at the Ottawa Blues Fest... I had bought tickets for their second show (where they were supposed to play the Royal Scam in it's entirety but that show got cancelled so we got Aja instead along with other fan favorites...) The show started off with Aja and then went into some real surprises like "Daddy Don't Live in that NY City No More", "Black Friday", "Hey Nineteen", "My Old School" and more! This was the last show on their Rent Party '09 Tour - great way to close and I finally found some video of the show - you can see just below! Enjoy!!!
..and some more from the balcony!!!
OFFICIAL!
The National Football League has finally confirmed that The Who will provide the halftime entertainment at Super Bowl 44 on February 7th in Miami. They are the fifth classic rock act to perform since Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" at the 2004 game. Since then, the halftime show has featured the "safe acts" (or as I like to call them: real musicians...) Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
VIRAL VIDEO
No idea what's going on here - whether it's some weird sex thing or just really messed-up people.. You be the judge?!!?

GET READY...
If you're a Beatles fan, this is the show you've got to set your TiVO for. Last night at 10:00 [ET] on the History Channel, The Beatles on Record is an hour-long chronicle of the Fab Four's recording career. Using a mix of recent and vintage interview clips from each of the Beatles and producer George Martin, the band and their producer share insight on the songs they created during the '60s -- and as they grew and evolved as artists, turned the music world on its ear. Along with more than 60 songs, there's rarely seen video footage shot during Beatles sessions, ending with the famous 1969 rooftop concert. While director Bob Smeaton, who also oversaw The Beatles Anthology, re-uses some of the commentary here -- especially of John Lennon, for reasons that are obvious -- he gives us a more tightly focused program that tracks a great bar band as it becomes rock and roll's most dominant foursome.... This will be aired more than once - check your local listings or History.ca
Immune!!!
NO THANKS!
Oh man! Now that spells relief!!! It's amazing what a little poke in the arm can do!!! B.C. now officially vaccinated again the dreaded H1N1 flu!!! Yeah baby - wonder if this will help my RAGING paranoia of getting sick?!? Probably not - gotta stay vigilant!!! Anyway couldn't have asked for an easier time yesterday morning at Alexis Neon! No line, smiling, happy people directing & answering all my questions - so much for the doom & gloom you see each night on the news?!?! Anyhoo, if you're heading over there, you're gonna want to see the lovely Renee, who took excellent care of me in my 'freaked-out' state... The longest wait was after in the 'waiting room', where you're asked to hang-out for 15 mins so they can monitor any adverse reaction... You should be hearing announcements on the opening of clinics & mass vaccination centres today to the general public - the good news is we are ahead of schedule after all!!! Check out Pandemiequebec for all the latest info & locations to keep you healthy & safe!

No Tender!!!!
SUIVANT - NEXT!
The Minnesota Wild traded former first-round draft choice Benoit Pouliot to the Montreal Canadiens for left wing Guillaume Latendresse. The 23-year-old Pouliot, drafted fourth overall in 2005, has been one of a handful of first-round disappointments for the Wild in recent years. Defenseman A.J. Thelen, drafted in 2004, never played for the team, and 2006 pick James Sheppard, a center, has not developed as quickly as the team had hoped.
All In!!!

Festival!
HERE WE GO!!!
What? Thursday already??! That was quick! Guess the ol' add-age "time flies when you're worryin' about gettin' Swine-Flu" really is true... Oh wait a minute, that's been my mantra for the past few weeks as I desperately try to come up with a "high-risk" affliction, which would warrant an early shot, yes??? The only ones I can come up with that are slightly believable would be Lupus but I don't think you get that in your 30's and Malaysia or Malaria ain't too big up here in North America!?! So why not come on down, associate in large groups and have a great ol' time 'cause were all gonna die someday!?! JOKING!!! A great way to get away from all this dooms-day stress is to get out and do stuff... Like M for Montreal's 3 days of electrifying showcases that will make you discover the best Mtl. bands that are ready for the BIGTIME... Click HERE for full schedule & details!!!
HO-HO-HEUM-EEAAAARGHH

Anyway, you can either refund your tickets at point of purchase or you can exchange them for the November 28th show where the guys will play Aja straight through.. This will bring their Rent Party '09 Tour to a close... See ya next year??? More HERE.
PLOT THICKENS...
With the members of Aerosmith contemplating working without Steven Tyler, Classic Rock magazine has put together a list of possible replacements. Among the choices are Mick Jagger, because "Tyler did base a lot of his act on the cricket-loving Stone. So, why not go for the original?"
2 More Days!!!
TUESDAY NOV. 17
Ex-Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones says he has an easy answer when people ask what the debut album from Them Crooked Vultures sounds like. He tells Australia's Nova, "When people ask, [I say] it sounds like me playing bass and Dave [Grohl] playing drums and Josh [Homme] singing and playing guitar. It's very obvious. It's just us -- it's straight ahead, it's very honest and it really rocks." Now fans can hear for themselves, as the entire album is streaming HERE! Them Crooked Vultures' self-titled debut is out Tuesday.
Remembering
THANK-YOU.
November 11th has always been a big day in the Craddock household... Maybe because my grandfather was involved in WWII but mostly because I have come to realize the importance of all those who have taken part (and will take part) in keeping our home and native land FREE. I could go on and on about the importance of this day and why we should never forget the sacrifices so many made (and will make) but if you don't get this now, with all the crises all over the world - sadly, there's little-to-no hope for you re. jack-ass fools outside the Armory yesterday, for the Prince Charles visit... Maybe one day you'll grow some brains and hopefully find a little humility - I just won't hold my breath.
HELP!
Paul McCartney admits The Beatles "weren't that good" when they auditioned for - and were turned down by - Decca Records in the winter of 1962. He says, "You'd have turned us down if you were a record company." But that summer, after signing with Capitol's British parent E-M-I, The Beatles recorded their first hit, "Love Me Do."
20 Years Already?!?!
MR. GORBACHEV...
Four days after U-2 performed there, Bon Jovi's played in front of the remnants of the Berlin Wall. It happened yesterday at a ceremony commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the wall. Bon Jovi played their new single, "We Weren't Born to Follow," in front of the Brandenburg Gate. Bon Jovi's new album, The Circle, will be in stores today.
Sunday Morning Musings
THE OLYMPIC TOKE!!!
I was kinda iffy on drawing any attention to this but every time I see someone running with the torch all I'm thinkin' is SPARK THAT TOKER!!! Just me or what??? Haven't heard too many theories on this yet but you think about Ross Rebagliati and "BUD-friendly BC"... Come one!!! I dunno, maybe it's the time of day or whatever but just thought I'd throw that out there??? (Click to enlarge torch pic)
Alive & Kicking!!!
CAN'T STOP THE ROCK!!!

Way She Goes!?!
POSTPONED...
I was all psyched up for the big Megadeth/Slayer show on November 11th but guess what... it's been postponed! Slayer's bassist Tom Araya hurt his back and the entire Canadian tour is being pushed back!?! Fans with tickets should hold onto them and a new date will be announced soon! Proof: HERE.
SICKO
First we got word of Eric Clapton cancelling his performance at The Rock & Roll 25th Anniversary Concerts due to gall stones now comes news that Sir Elton John has been hit with E. Coli?!? Yeah, his spokesman says he also contracted the flu and is in a London hospital. So in addition to cancelling his U-K Red Piano dates, he has now postponed the first three shows -- two in Seattle and one in Portland -- of the next leg of his Face-to-Face tour with Billy Joel, which was due to start tomorrow night in Seattle. It is set to resume on November 14th in Oakland, California. Get well soon, Elton!
SUPER-SEGER!!!
Big news for Bob Seger fans!!! We now know what Bob Seger has been doing in the studio. He's slowly working his way through his vast archive of unreleased material looking for tracks that he deems worthy of releasing, as well as previously released songs that have been updated. Early Seger, Volume One will contain 10 songs, four of which were previously unreleased. The rest are taken from his early 1970s albums Smokin' O-Ps, Back in '72 and Seven. It will be released on November 24th exclusively at Meijer's [pr: MY-yers], a Midwest retailer with 190 stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. It will go on sale at BobSeger.com on November 30th. Seger says he enjoyed working on these older songs so much that he's back in the studio doing more work on his archives. Keep ya posted, maybe find some samples in the coming weeks, so check back often!!!
THEY'RE HERE... FINALLY!
Rumors have swirled countless times that the Beatles' music would finally go on sale at online music stores, and it has finally happened — albeit in a strange way. BlueBeat.com is selling the entire Beatles catalog, including recently-released remastered albums, for the low price of 25 cents per MP3. Oh, and it also streams the Beatles and every other song on the site for free, an unlimited number of times. Not sure how long this will last as EMI is suing the site for selling unlicensed tracks (more HERE)... So check it right now!!!
NEW MUSIC THIS WEEK
Let There Be Rock!!!
OOOHWHATANIGHT
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame held the first of its two 25th Anniversary Concerts Thursday night at New York's Madison Square Garden and the six-hour affair featured a who's who of inductees. While the headliners -- Crosby Stills and Nash, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, and Stevie Wonder -- were enough to guarantee a great show, it was their interaction with their special guests that made for some of the night's more magical moments. Those moments included Jackson Browne doing "The Pretender" with C-S-N; James Taylor joining C-S-N "Love the One You're With;" Graham Nash and David Crosby singing harmony on Paul Simon's version of George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun;" Bruce Springsteen trading verses with John Fogerty and Billy Joel; and Stevie Wonder playing with Sting, John Legend, B-B King and Jeff Beck. The entire night got started with Jerry Lee Lewis opening the show with a solo piano version of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On."
All Night Long!!!
OH YEEEAH!!!
Just going over the plans for the weekend when it me... FALL BACK SATURDAY NIGHT!!! Couldn't have planned that one out any better, eh!?? Can see it now - all the bars staying open an extra hour - all the parties where you'll have an extra hour to accomplish your "missions"... And best of all, if you work Sunday morning (like I do), get a bonus hour of recovery - frikkin' awesome... Could this be the 1st time in recent years... Methinks, yes! For more Halloween stuff, ideas and stories see the previous blogs (ie Wednesday & Sunday).
SPACE CONCERTO!!!
Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart discusses sounds from space last night on the History Channel program The Universe: Pulsars and Quasars. During the Dead's spring tour, Hart debuted the "Universe of Sound." At each show he connected audiences with the universe's most celestial vibrations from the Big Bang to the rings of Saturn to a black hole. He says, "The idea was to take our audience on a nightly tour of some part of our universe during our 'space concerto' section. The next day, we put it up on our website so the kids could follow it." Check out the full episode, HERE!
APP-ATTACK!!!
Metallica is the latest act to have a Tap Tap game for the I-Phone. Also Metallica still needs your help locating missing fan Morgan Dana Harrington - they're offering $50,000 for any info on here whereabouts... More, HERE.
WHO IS NEXT!!!
Roger Daltrey says The Who will get their own Rock Band videogame next year. In an interview, Daltrey says, "There is one planned. (The idea) is fabulous. Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can't stop us singing and making music."
...Ya, but what about all the time they waste in front of the game when they could be learning the real thing?!?!
1 MAN BAND!!!
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler will do a one-man show on January 23rd at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, New Hampshire. Dream On - An Intimate Evening With Steven Tyler will feature the singer talking about his career and his struggles with addictions, as well as concert footage and a 30-minute question-and-answer session. He'll also sing two songs while accompanying himself on the piano. Proceeds will benefit programs for substance-abuse treatment and child-abuse prevention.... Tickets should be pretty cheap!?!
DEED OF THE DAY!
I'm not the most religious guy around but when I hear about a good cause, gotta do what I can... This time it's for the Mormon MILFS and their HOT MORMON MUFFINS CALENDAR!!!
AND THE WINNER IS....
A Philadelphia woman was so desperate to see her beloved Phillies live in the World Series that she allegedly was offering sex for tickets. 43-year-old Susan Finkelstein described herself in a Craigslist ad as a "gorgeous, tall, buxom blonde in desperate need of two World Series tickets" and that she was "the creative type! Maybe we can help each other." A pair of enterprising Philadelphia-area cops decided to see just how far Finkelstein was willing to go, and she's now facing charges of prostitution and related offenses. Her lawyer says the charges aren't true, and the only thing she was offering was money, and perhaps "work some type of deal."Click HERE for a look-see!!!
Ready, Set, Go!!!
ALL HALLOW'S EVE...
OK, so the big night just 3 days away now and man, it's just not the same... Yeah, I know - all grown-up and mature, shouldn't be into that stuff but I kinda am! Maybe not the whole "dress-up-at-work" thing but parties, pranks and the odd paranormal malevolence is just fine by me! What really burns my ass are these "boards"; be they scholastic, religious or just personal trying to kill off any fun we might still be having!?!? The latest offenders: The Commission Scolaire des Patriotes who have outlawed candy in the classrooms for Halloween?!? Click HERE for full story... Looking back to school when I was a kid - Halloween was the best time of year!!! Dressing up, eating all sorts of crap, taking a stroll through the make-shift Haunted House - couldn't ask for a better time but then you get all these BUZZ-KILLERS coming in trying to kill Halloween, X-mas etc?!!? Not cool..
For some real-extreme Jack-o-Lantern ideas, click HERE!
For some Adult Halloween Action - click HERE!
BIG-TIME!!!
Not sure if you saw this beauty in the Gazette on the weekend - very small little blurb about the Maple Laughs sucking so hard that Hockey Night in Canada is threatening to pull them from the top-spot... Great news all around - maybe more Habs games??? Less Laugh games - everybody wins!!! By the by Laughs record so far 1-7-1... Ya, they won one against Anaheim the other night - I know, not such a biggie but hey LEAFS SUCK!!!
THEY'RE COMING!!!

Flyin The Freak Flag!!!
TOUCH OF TIE-DYE
The Empire State Building was lit up in tie-dye colors last week in honor of the Grateful Dead. The band's Bob Weir and Phil Lesh were in New York on Wednesday to attend a fundraiser at the New York Historical Society, which currently is honoring the band with the exhibit The Grateful Dead: Now Playing at the New York Historical Society -- tracing the band's career as its status was elevated beyond music to become an American cultural icon.
It's Coming!!!
9 DAYS TO GO!!!
Not sure about you but I always leave this to the last minute & can't figure out why as it's probably my favorite holiday of the year!?! You heard about your uncle Alice Cooper putting out a new song - Keepin' Halloween Alive - dig it HERE! Thought I'd throw some costume ideas out for ya... Warning: a little controversial but good for a laugh and big points for originality... Up 1st, how about dressing up as an eating disorder??? No joke, you can actually by a costume called "Anna Rexia" which also comes in a plus size.... Pretty hot, I think - check 'em HERE! ..And of course there's always the favorite "Sexy Scholar" - right HERE. But if you're really looking to go against the grain, how 'bout this little puppy - "The Illegal Alien"!!!! Check him out, HERE but head's up, lots of stores pulling this one because of complaints from immigrant rights groups...
YAHOO-CUCKOO???
Last weekend, Yahoo hosted a computer hacker convention in Taiwan called "Hack Day." The idea was to recruit programmers to work for the company. So the bigwigs over at Yahoo all put their heads together and decided that there was no better way to appeal to a bunch of pasty, sex-starved computer nerds than to hire Go-Go dancers to work the convention and give FREE LAP DANCES.
Bigger, Better!!!
SUPER-SIZED?!
Hey! Remember Martin Patenaude? He's the lucky #$%^ who won our Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert Grand Prize winner from last week! Well his life just got a bit better... Not only will he be going down to the show Rocktober 30th with airfare, hotel and cash but now he'll get a few more BIG names added to the bill!!
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th Anniversary Concerts at New York's MadisonSquareGarden on October 29th and 30th continue to evolve. B-B King has been added to the bill on the 29th, performing with Stevie Wonder. On the 30th, Van Morrison is off the bill and Buddy Guy, Ozzy Osbourne, Lenny Kravitz and Annie Lennox are on. Guy will perform with Eric Clapton, while Ozzy joins Metallica, and Kravitz and Lennox sing with Aretha Franklin!!! Great news and on a completely unrelated subject, I am totally free for whatever on October 30th, eh Martin???
Unveiled!
STAMP of APPROVAL
They are the most storied sports team in Canadian history having won 24 Stanley Cups, more than any other team. They are the oldest continuously-operating professional ice hockey team, predating the founding of the NHL. Their team jerseys can be found in arenas across Canada, often outnumbering home-team sweaters. They are the Montreal Canadiens, and Canada Post has issued a stamp set honouring the team’s centennial and its iconic jersey.
Time To Shine!!!!
GO HABS, GO!
Alright, going a little Hockey crazy these days (see yesterday's post..) but we gotta, right? Brand new team with a brand new street and a brand new monument to honour 100 years of greatness!!! Ya see, it's necessity!! Now all we gotta do is just start winning games!!! I love to make fun of the maple laughs but it's really only satisfying when our team is winning, right?! 6 games and toronto hasn't won 1 yet and the cherry on top was Komisarek scoring on his own net by deflecting the puck off his helmet!!! Ya baby - hate when that happens!?! Don't forget CHOM's legendary street team will be outside the Bell Ctr. around 6ish tonight - come on down and play some street hockey with 'em and pick up some goodies too! Puck drops at 7.30 - Go Habs, Go!
HE RIDES AGAIN!
John Fogerty feels President Obama is deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. He says, "I'm an American. When your president is receiving a Nobel Prize, particularly a Nobel Peace Prize, at any time in history, that's an amazing and wonderful thing. I think what that really is representing is a feeling of hopefulness. We're taking a deep breath and feeling like Americans again, at least a good portion of us... This award is an affirmation of the hopefulness that is emanating from the Obama administration and really from Barack Obama himself."
Kovalev Back In Montreal!!!
WAHOO!
Well it was only a matter of time before Alex Kovalev came back to Montreal - who can blame 'em - the city's tops! But you heard right!! Kovalev back in Montreal - for one night only... BIG BAD GEORGE!!
Not sure if you seen the video yet but while we're on the subject, can't really understand the big deal with George Laraque's energy drink video - check it out below... Apparently there's some groups who find it offensive but when compared to the big beer companies' ads...??? The thing that's gotta be remembered is that energy drinks usually target young men 18-35 - so you will see things that appeal to this demographic: beautiful girls lettin' over a friendly round of street hockey with George!?! OK... Clear now? Great! Enjoy!!!
Thanksgivin'!
GOOD EATIN' TONIGHT!!!
Another year, another turkey, kinda fast this time around, no??? Maybe it was the short summer, maybe the crappy fall - maybe just all the tryptophan - who knows?!?? Feels like we need a time-change or something, eh?! Anyway, hope you're having a great long weekend with the food & family and all! Pretty straight forward on what's open & closed - you can click HERE for all the info!
Run For The Hills!
BE AFRAID!!!
OK OK OK. I know. I'm paranoid, I'm delusional - I'm a joker, a smoker, a midnight toker but when 80 kids get sick at the same time, in relatively the same place... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it might warrant a closer look! Sure we've got tons of this (untested) vaccine coming our way - any day now!?! Perhaps you're like me and looking for ways to go on the offensive... Sure we can open a window on the buss and you must've heard or seen all the ads teaching you how to sneeze and cough into your "elbow" but what about all of us who want to take this thing to the next level and get 'er done??? Well this might be just for you:
A Japanese clothing company called the Haruyama Trading Company, has just invented a stylish new BUSINESS SUIT that protects against swine flu. So how does this thing work? Basically, the suit is coated with a chemical typically used in toothpaste and cosmetics called Titanium Dioxide. When Titanium Dioxide comes into contact with the H1N1 virus, it breaks it down and KILLS it. And even after you wash the suit several times, it still retains its protective properties.
For Those About To Rock...
FINALLY!
Well they've been talking about it for the last year now, seems like it was never gonna happen but it did. Finally here; the be-all-end-all AC/DC boxed set BACKTRACKS has arrived! Stop The Tax!!!!
STOP THE T.V. TAX!!!
Not sure if you've heard about this proposed tax bill that would see you paying an extra 10 bucks (per month) on local television - you're already paying for??! Naturally I'm against this and so are many other people!!! If this burns your ass too - check out this website and maybe sign the petition: http://www.stopthetvtax.ca/
SMELLS LIKE.... PHISH!!
So the bands back & touring... Apparently they're off the drugs and playing all the songs they had to stop playing due to extreme addictions but now they're back!!! One of the highlights of Phish's Festival Eight will be on Halloween when they play someone else's album in its entirety -- and they're letting fans know about some of the records under consideration via Phish.com. The list includes such varied works as The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, Beastie Boys' Hello Nasty, Prince's Purple Rain and M-G-M-T's Oracular Spectacular. They've already eliminated 10 albums from consideration, including The Beatles' Rubber Soul and The White Stripes' Elephant. Festival Eight runs from October 30th to November 1st at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
It Begins.....
LET THERE BE BLOOD!!!
Oh yeah! Been waiting for this for a while!! After a couple weeks of teasing around in pre-season; time to see what we're made of!!! Of course, we'll be doing some Maple Laugh stompin' tonight without a decided Captain and probably be playing against some of our old guys but HEY! It don't matter none... We still gonna woop some T.O. ass! ... Let's just hope their fans aren't too uncivilized!!!
As for all you Hamilton-hopefulls... Hate to be the bearer of bad news but not gonna happen - Coyotes to stay in Phoenix for now??? Can't believe the hoops owners have to jump through down south to win-over the fans??? The team announced on its website on Wednesday afternoon that it will be celebrating its home-opener with discounted tickets as part of its "Welcome Back Whiteout" promotion. Tickets for the Oct. 10 opener against Columbus will be $25 for the lower bowl and $15 for the upper bowl.... SAY WHAT?!!?! Sounds like Expos tickets (in the end.. sad!!)
Don't forget to come check out all the action on Crescent St. for the NHL's Bud Light Celebration - kicking off the 2009/10 season properly!!! Join Bilal Friday Oct. 2 in front of Ziggy's Pub (deMaisoneuve & Crescent) and Tootall - Saturday Oct. 3 - same place, babies!!!
KISS, KISS, KISS!!!!
Talking about KISS and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - how they're not too big on the whole idea... Some former members (Peter Criss & Ace Frehley) were really psyched about the idea but not so much for Paul Stanley... He says it would be "fine" if they were inducted, but he views the Hall of Fame as "a joke... The true Rock and Roll Hall of Fame exists in the music stores that sell C-Ds. And the members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are the ones who've lasted the longest and sold the most." OUCH! Wonder if this will affect The Halls decision?!?
***KISS FAN-ALERT***
CHOM's Countdown to KISS starts-up bright and early with 5th row tickets with Ted, Kim & Bad Pete!!! Keep 'em coming all day long finishing with rows 2 and 1 on the Butt Show with Bilal, who'll be live outside The Bell Ctr. rocking out before the show!!! ALL POPPED-UP!?!?

Hope you've been taking advantage of our latest contest "Keep Up With Kiss" every morning this week with Ted, Kim & Bad Pete (7.10 & 8.20)... KISS will make recordings of each of the shows on their Alive 35 tour available for sale immediately after each performance. You'll be able to buy the authorized bootleg as a U-S-B leather wristband with a KISS metal buckle or as a two-C-D collector's box. The Alive 35 tour starts Friday in Detroit.
Way She Goes....
SUIVANT, NEXT!
Summer officially expires today at 5.19pm but still feels like we've got another month to go; or is that just me??? With all the sucky weather (and it really was sucky, click HERE for all the meteorological stats) some good might come out of it after all! Long range forecasts calling for a warmer than normal Fall & Winter - believe it when I see it but trying to stay positive here, right!!! And with El Nino this year - December through March are supposed to be milder, with fewer snowfalls!!! As long as it doesn't eat into our summer again, think we'll all be in good shape!
WINE, ANYONE???
Rush have launched an auction of rock memorabilia on E-Bay as part of their Grapes Under Pressure initiative in support of Grapes for Humanity, an organization that raises funds with the assistance of the international wine community to benefit humanitarian causes around the world. Among the items up for grabs are autographed guitars signed by Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and members of Pearl Jam, Judas Priest and others, as well as a signed cymbal from Neil Peart's personal drum kit. To see the items click HERE!
With Metallica just finishing up 2 nights in our great city, there's now word of a "Superstars of Thrash Tour" that could be coming our way in the not too distant future!!!
According to Slayer guitarist Kerry King, a dream tour featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax could well be in the works. Speaking to Metal Hammer magazine, King stated:
Metallica Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!
OOOH YEAH, YEEEAHHHHH!!!!
What a show! Easy to say but yeah.. Friggin' AWESOME!!! Metallica are back and BADDER than ever!? Couldn't believe the thrashin' and moshin' going on at The Bell Ctr. last night... Just like 20 years ago!?! For the full set-list, click HERE! Also, I'm posting some exclusive video from last night's show.. I'll apologize for the crappy sound but gives you a pretty good idea of what we got!!! Check it out below and don't forget Mike Metal's Metal File for an interview with Metallica's lead guitar - Kirk Hamett... YEAAAAAAH!!!!!
MANDATORY METALLICA!!!
T - MINUS 2 DAYS!!!!
So close now, you can almost taste it!!! Metallica only 2 days away and I've been on AUTO-PILOT for the last 5 days, in eager anticipation of what promises to be the kick-ass show of the year!!! Just 2 more days of qualifying for the big "Meet & Greet" with Metallica... That means 4 of ya's could be hangin' with the band this weekend, just like last week's GRAND PRIZE winner - the blow a load guy - Dom Melfi!!! Just be around your radio at 7.10 & 8.20 and let your fingers do the rest!!!
The Countdown Is ON!!!!
T-MINUS 3 DAYS!!!
Gettin' all psyched up for the "Metallica Invasion" of the Bell Ctr. this Saturday and Sunday!!! If you're still trying to decide on whether or not to go - JUST DO IT!!! Be the last "Big Hoorah" of the summer, I think and is guaranteed to leave you wantin' MORE!!! And for the die-hards worrying about the set-list: DON'T!!! As someone who loved the old band - I can say, judging by the last few shows, you need not worry!!! Kept it very heavy - relying on mostly 80's stuff!!! Yeah baby!!! You can see a sample of the set they've been playing, HERE! Also, between now and the shows, I'll be posting some classic "Metallica Memories" to whet your appetite! This one coming to you from Parc Jean Drapeau circa 2003... 3 hours that started with 'Battery', all the good stuff and just 2 new songs!!! Dig-it below!
BLACK CROWE MELTDOWN!!!
Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson went OFF on a club security guard at a show in Pensnsylvania last week... Apparently, he was upset because the guy was harassing some poor, innocent, pot-smoking kids, while ignoring the fact that there were a bunch of DRUNKS in the crowd acting like belligerent A-HOLES... Earning him the "Angel of the Week" award!!! You can see the whole thing, just below!!
NEW TUNES THIS WEEK
Some goodies this week on the New Music Front... Check 'em out!!!

TRIBUTE TO PHIL...
From now on, PHIL COLLINS will have to rely on his SOOTHING pop rock voice . . . because due to a spinal injury, he will NEVER play the drums again. Phil explains, quote, "I've got a condition that means I can't play anymore. After playing drums for 50 years, I've had to stop. Obviously I'm very sad about it. "My vertebrae has been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in. It comes from years of playing. I can't even hold the sticks properly without it being painful. I even used to tape the sticks to my hands to get through. "But don't worry, I can still sing."
They're Back!!!
09/09/09, BABY!!!
OK so either you're a Beatles fan or a Stones fan... No 2 ways about it so if you're part of the first category then today is your day as this is the day Beatles fans have been waiting 22 years for. It's the day they will finally re-release their entire catalog. The re-mastered discs will be available worldwide on the same day that The Beatles Rock Band game hits stores. Each C-D contains the original U-K album art, including expanded booklets containing original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited time, each C-D will be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album. The documentaries contain archival footage, rare photographs and never-before-heard studio chat from the Beatles, offering a unique insight into the studio atmosphere. On the same date, two new Beatles box sets will also be released.
"Labour" of Love?!?
LONG WEEKEND, ANYONE???
Only 2 weeks back and already lookin' for a vacation - terrible, eh?! But after such a suck-ass summer, kinda feel like something's amiss; like we got gypped or scammed?!? Well not givin' in that easy... Until Metallica rocks the Bell Ctr. for a second night, it is still SUMMER. Clear? Good. And to show I'm serious, I've got another little festival for ya this weekend... M for Montreal hosting the second annual M On The Quays this weekend Sept. 5th & 6th... They're billing it as a mini-Woodstock showcasing local bands to international audiences (what better palce than down at the Quays?!) Checked it out last year and was happily surprised and as an added bonus, Tootall will be broadcasting live both days 'till 6pm - check him out!!! If you'd like more on this click HERE!
Let's Go Racin'!!!
AGAIN!!!
Is there any better way to close out the summer (even though it's not done) with a good ol' timy race!!! Hit Circuit Gilles Villeneuve Sunday afternoon, a little worried about the weather - what else is new... Turned out great though! Mostly sunny until around 6 o'clock when it started to pour!!! Didn't stop the party however; some very dedicated fans could've been sitting in a blizzard for all they cared!? Record number of caution flags - really get the feeling these guys (drivers) love Montreal! Different course; wild nightlife and beautiful women - what's not to like?!?! Not being the biggest race fan, I thought I was going to take in the whole experience but found myself really getting into it... Couldn't believe the ending with Ambrose leading the entire time, hits the track bumper and lets Carl Edwards grab the win... AMAZING! Check out some clips just below!
Nascar Fever In Montreal

IT'S COOOOOOMIIIIINGG!!!
Alright so with our Al's on FIRE and NFL season quickly approaching you can kinda get up for the end of summer (when did it start?!?) Not sure if you heard about the Dallas Cowboys getting a brand new stadium and brand new JUMBOTRON... Only thing is this screen is 40 YARDS wide!!!! Going from 20 yard line to 20 yard line, it cost 40 million dollars and requires 20 million light-bulbs!!! Oh yeah and it's HI-DEF!!! Just one problem: this thing is so big, punters keep nailing the bottom of it spawning countless do-overs - like last Friday night! And another problem! U2 is set to play there in October and their stage is so big it won't fit (s'what she said)!! So now the band is considering paying the 2 million it'll take to move the sucker!!! No biggie - Bono won't buy shoes for a week!! Check out this bohemoth below!

SKYNYRD FOREVER!!!
Lynyrd Skynyrd have posted a video for a new song, "Still Unbroken," on their website. The track will be on their new album, God and Guns, in stores September 29th. Dig it just below!!!

Life After AC/DC...
LET THERE BE ROCK!!!!
Hit up the AC/DC show last Saturday night - ears still bleedin' but all good!?! One of the best rock shows I've seen in a long time - playing EVERYTHING we wanted and more!! Set-list jam packed with all the good stuff: Back in Black; Dirty Deeds; The Jack; Hells Bells; DOG EAT DOG; TNT; Let There Be Rock... Encore: Highway to Hell & For Those About To Rock and many more... My favorites were: Dog Eat Dog - still can't believe they played it and Angus' 25 minute rendition of Let There Be Rock complete with levitation on separate stage (down 175ft. catwalk!!!) Just an awesome energy inside the Big-O and I gotta admit, pretty darn-good sound!!!Everything was perfect and with the cherry on top - firework demo of For Those About To Rock... Couldn't have asked for more! Can't wait for the next one!!! Check out some clips below!!!

SKYNYRD FOREVER!!!!
Still can't believe I got to see Lynyrd Skynyrd this past Saturday night in Ottawa at their annual BluesFest, which if we're not careful, could be giving our JazzFest a run for it's money... SOON! All sorts of CRAZY good acts again this year including KISS; Styx; Joe Cocker; Allan Parsons Project; Lynyrd Skynyrd; Jeff Beck and more!!! A big, HUGE THANK-YOU to Mr. Joe Reilly for taking such good care of us again this year... Really got their "stuff" in a pile over there in the nations capitol!!!
That's A Wrap! ...Next!!!
BIG BLAST!!!
Day 3 of JazzFest with-drawls and ol' BC in not the greatest shape.... But loved every minute of it!!! Managed to stay (somewhat) healthy for most of the Fest - even in near sub-zero temps but got nailed the last night (Sunday) at the Ben Harper closer!!! Who knew 13 degrees, rain and short sleeves would get ya sick?!?!
Just got to give a HUGE shout out to the whole JazzFest team for making The Fest (and my vacation) another magical experience that I won't forget for a long, long time!!!

Thorogood and the Destroyers kick off a U-S tour Thursday in Flagstaff, Arizona.... Teaming up with him is Johnny Lang!! Not too shabby, eh?!
LIVE IN TORONTO '69?!?!
The only performance of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band to be filmed arrived on D-V-D last week from Shout Factory. Live in Toronto '69 is an hour-long recording in which the Lennons are backed by an all-star lineup including Eric Clapton -- who says he was asked by John to do the show three hours before their plane left from London. Despite the short notice and only rehearsing in the airplane's first-class cabin, it proved to be a memorable show. Keyboardist Klaus Voorman and drummer Alan White round out the band, which shared the stage with some of John's musical heroes -- Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Bo Diddley.
Summer Yet???
LET'S DO THIS!!!
Alright! So now we're starting to cook... Big Crescent Street 50th Anniversary Party coming up this weekend (Fri & Sat) with all sorts of fun: free shows, dancing & drinkin' - should be a blast!!! Jazz & JFL laughs coming quick too - just need some hot weather to make it official now!?!

BONA WOO-HOO!!!
The eighth annual Bonnaroo Arts and Music Festival kicks off today in Manchester, Tennessee and this year the esftival gets back to its jam band roots with Phish headlining Friday and Sunday nights. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will make their debut appearance as headliners Saturday night, and with an expected crowd of 70-thousand people it will be the biggest festival the band has played in the U-S. E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt says fans will get the same type of show that the band has been playing on the Working on a Dream tour. "We don't particularly change things according to who the audience is or not. We kind of do what we do, and then you just hope people dig it."
Summer Yet???
GET SET...!
Well must be getting close to Summer as "that time" of year is rollin' around again... Talkin' about the Tour de L'Ile, of course... Big headache for a great event... Some organizers even talking about making it into a charity... You know like a Cyclathon or something... That way were actually rasing money for a cause, right? Click here to see the website... Or here for the Tour de L'Ile route... Good luck!!!
Mmmmmm Beeeeeer!
IT HAS BEGUN...!

GOOD NEWS - FOR A CHANGE...
Told you about the new Skynyrd album a little while back, well more details now... Lynyrd Skynyrd have added Rob Zombie to the list of artists they've collaborated with. The singer-horror film director wrote on his Twitter page Sunday, "Just left studio. Recorded vocals for new Lynyrd Skynyrd track called 'Floyd.' Heavy swampy track." The track is set to appear on Skynyrd's new album God and Guns, which will be out on September 29th... Can't wait!!! More info here.
GOING, GOING GONG!!!
The brass Chinese gong owned and used by the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is going up for sale. His sister Deborah is unloading it at an auction on June 14th in Los Angeles. It is expected to sell for 121-thousand dollars.
Saw The Light!
SORT OF...
Pretty cool to see the light of day, this past weekend! It was the first time in almost 6 years now - JOKING! But ya - whole different trip with daylight coming in the studio... "Normal" people walking down Fort St., even the odd couple holding hands! Not those other dudes running back and forth, holding their arms or furiously scratching the back of their heads - kinda uplifting...! Like 'Hey, we might just make it after all!' I'm exaggerating but hopefully me saying AM instead of PM or rambling off about CSIS or the NSA didn't bother you too much and hey, Tootall's back not this weekend but next complete with another CHOM Electric Brunch Masterpiece for yas!!!
Sunday?!
MUSEUM DAY!!!On the last Sunday every May, Montrealers celebrate art, history and science with Montréal Museums Day, when some 30 museums offer free access to the public, while six bus routes take visitors from place to place free of charge. Come join the fun on Sunday, May 31, 2009. Full details here. BAKON!!!!Probably a dangerous mix for me and a whole bunch of ya's... But I think I've found the perfect combination of man & woman's favorite food (and drink!)... It's called Bakon!!! Good for Bloody Mary's; Bar-B-Q marinades or just to sip on the rocks with a nice steak (or eggs, right?)... If you'd like to check it out or where to buy, click here! DIG IT!!!Looing for something to do today???
It's A Wrap!!!
LINES ON THE HORIZON!!!
Another awesome contest from your pals at CHOM wrapped this morning at 7.10 with Ted, Kim & Kemp with a very happy Ivan Murello finding out he was off to Barcelona, Spain to see U2!!!! I know, I know - " You already gave away that trip, FIRST!!!"?!? That was the phone call I got about 50 times last night so here's what happened... The person who won the Spain trip the 1st time around wasn't able to go on the date selected. Sooooo - being the nice guys & gals that we are - we flip-flopped the vacations so that Winner #1 gets to go see U2 in Chicago and lucky Ivan gets to see the band in Spain on June 30th... Way to go, guys! Thanks to everyone who signed up right here at CHOM.com (Live & WorldWide!!!).. Onto the next adventure... This time with NASCAR!!!! More details to come on that - VERY SOON!!!
THAT'S IT!!!
Bruce Springsteen announced from the stage last night (Thursday) at the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey that he and the E Street Band will return to the Meadowlands complex on September 30th, October 2nd and 3rd to play the final concerts at Giants Stadium. The stadium, home of the N-F-L New York Giants and New York Jets, will be torn down following the 2009-2010 season. Springsteen told last night's sell-out crowd that the "wrecking crew" will return before the "wrecking ball" takes down the stadium. Tickets go on sale June 1st.
Fogerty Forever!!!!
SOUTHERN ROCK FINALLY HITS MTL!!!
Man! What a blast!!! Really hope you got to witness John Fogerty last night at the Bell Ctr.... So good to finally get a Southern Rock act up here in the city... Got to see ZZ Top way back in '97 and LOVED 'em!!! Been trying to go see more ever since but small problem - promoters decided back in the 70's that this type of music wouldn't work in Quebec. Too bad none of them saw the show last night. Packed (Amphitheatre); all ages, on their feet dancin' and jumpin' around - LOVING IT!!! Goes to show you don't need big sets & screens; fireworks (but sure is nice!) and gimmicks... Just good ol' timy Rock 'N' Roll!!!! All your favorites were played: Green River; Lodi; Fortunate Son; Proud Mary; Have You Ever Seen/ Who'll Stop (The Rain); Centerfield and Suzie Q... To name a few!! My favorites were (from Cosmos) Ramble Tamble and one of his solo works The Old Man Down the Road!!! Smokin!!!! And the cherry on top of it all....? Mr. Kenny Aranoff - legendary drummer for (everyone really) John Mellencamp - most recently was in the house!!! Below some concert footage (not from Mtl. but you'll get the picture!!) John Fogerty - Born on the Bayou - Enjoy!
TRAGICALLY "HUSH"
THE TRAGICALLY HIP closed out a six-night stand at Massey Hall in Toronto on May 19, and celebrated by bringing out a very special guest for their two-song encore... RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson came out and performed with the band on "The Last Recluse" (off "We Are The Same") and "Little Bones" (from "Road Apples"). He played the solo on "Little Bones", as well!
Did you know THE HIP members are big fans of RUSH (and vice versa). They opened for them once on the "Roll The Bones" tour at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto and also have covered "Limelight".
Check out the video from the show, below!
"THE WHOLE TRUTH..."
A year ago today, reports surfaced saying that Aerosmith's Steven Tyler checked into rehab. A week later, after numerous rumors, Tyler issued a statement saying he was being treated for painkillers he'd been taking following foot surgery. And now Tyler says, "I know that the drugs that they gave me for the pain for my feet were the exact drugs that I love. So it kind of took me down a little and I got some really good friends and I knew where to go and how to address it."
Smile!!!
SAY CHEESE!!!
Such a nice welcome back after the long weekend, eh...? Photo Radar has finally come to Quebec and not likin' this one bit... First it was all these "security" cams down around the plateau - now this. And it won't stop there - oh no! Just look at London.. What is it - 4 cameras per person or something like that... I like the fact that people will slow down (when they hit that 25 meter radius around the camera) but what we're gonna see is cameras popping up all over the place and what happens when some of these cameras overlap public or even residential areas??? Welcome home big-bro! 6 locations around the city have been revealed but what about the other 9??? Check in here for more on the beginning of the end!!!
GREEN DAY HERE!
Was never a huge fan of these guys but gotta say I'm diggin' their newest 20th Century Breakdown... Caught them on the SNL season finale (Will Ferrell hosting - nuff said) and was happily surprised to see the band playing really tight! Treated us to new 2 songs (Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns) ... And you heard it here first: all sorts of people are going to say 21 Guns is a ripoff of Weezer's Beverly Hills (check it here!) - you watch!!!! Soon to be appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone - you can check out some video from SNL: Ferrell, Green Day & friends...
KISS-TUMES
When KISS was at their peak in the '70s, many people dressed up like them, especially at Halloween. But in order to do so, you had to make your own costume to look like either Gene Simmons -- Demon; Paul Stanley -- Starchild; Ace Frehley -- Spaceman; and Peter Criss -- Cat. Now, 30-plus years later, they have finally licensed the pre-Destroyer costumes and accessories and you can order them here. But, like a lot of KISS memorabilia, a costume does not come cheap. Simmons' outfit tops the list at 500, with another 190 for the boots; Stanley's is 250 with another 190 for the boots. The Frehley and Criss costumes are 190 each with the Criss boots at 190 and Frehley's a bargain at 139. And, if you don't want to put on the make-up, you can just buy a mask.
Happy "Day-Off"!!!
WAHOO!
Pretty quick week - just the way I like it.. Couple nice days (over 20 degrees) in there - gotta take the rain too... Long weekend coming just in time!! Lots of weird things going on in the world of ROCK... Bono saying a bad word on British Radio - still trying to figure that one out!?! You'd think after the big "Imus" affair, even a 3-year-old would know what not to say??? You can hear it here but be warned some people WILL be offended by this...
Great news at the beginning of the week on Stevie Wonder opening this year's Jazz Festival!!! Really happy about that... Having to work that night: not so much. Way she goes... To access the Jazz Fest website, click here! It's just around the corner, after all!

HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!
Thought we were done with this but apparently not!? "Bruce Springsteen may not be a happy camper -- fans who bought premium seats to his show next Monday in Washington, D-C are being told they don't actually have tickets. Ticketmaster's re-sale company, TicketsNow-dot-com, says it sold too many tickets, and company representatives have been calling fans with the bad news. They're offering those fans free seats to the show, albeit further from the stage, as well as refunds. A spokeswoman for the company says, "Tickets Now is an online marketplace that brings live event ticket buyers and sellers together... If for any reason the seller cannot provide the ticket, we actually step in and provide a comparable ticket or a full refund... In the case of the May 18th Springsteen concert, fewer than 24 open orders remain from the just over 300 orders that were affected. In all of these cases, we consulted directly with the customer and offered them several options including better seats to an earlier Bruce Springsteen concert of their choice plus reimbursement of up to 150-dollars for a one-night hotel stay and a 75-dollar gas credit; or a 100-percent refund plus a TicketsNow gift card of equal value." A spokeswoman for Springsteen was unavailable for comment.
JazzFest Gets Super-Sized!!!
A NIGHT OF WONDER!!!
So cool to be getting Stevie Wonder at the JazzFest.... He'll christen the new "Place des Festivals" (you know the area around Jean Meance, currently all ripped up?!) and open the Fest, June 30th!!! This was the 1st bit of news I got the other day which knocked me over the edge... INTO SUMMER-MODE!!! Woohooo!!!! Full outdoor schedule will be announced soon - check back here for it!!! In the meantime... Click here for more details!
DYLAN-"DISH"!!!
Bob Dylan may have been married as many as five times and fathered nine children -- instead of the four he publicly acknowledges, according to London's Daily Mail. The paper claims that in addition to his first and second wives, Sara Lowndes and Carolyn Dennis, which he kept secret, Dylan had two other secret wives, as well as a common-law wife -- Ruth Tyrangiel, who he was involved with for 17 years. There are also rumors that he is now married to wife number five.
Happy Mother's Day!
"M" IS FOR...
I know, I know - Mother's Day was yesterday!? Yeah but I wasn't working yesterday, smart-ass... And this is important, so Happy Mother's Day, Mom! (and all other Moms too!) Could've used some nice, warm sunshine but not to be... That's alright... Went over to spend time with the lil' lady but good ol' Mom had another amazing dinner prepared for ME??? Offered to help but she wouldn't have that, God love 'er!!! Never stops and that's why we love 'em, right!!!
IT'S HERE... (Sort of)
The Who's second rock opera, Quadrophenia, will came to life the other (Saturday) night as a new theatrical production opened at the Theater Royal Plymouth in Plymouth, England with shows through next Saturday. Mostly based on the 1979 movie, which featured an appearance by Sting, this production has the full cooperation of Pete Townshend -- who says, "I want the show to entertain, of course, but a grander mission is to see it connect with the audience as well. Good rock music, as we now call my kind of pop, must be functional -- it has to do something more than just entertain." Townshend was on hand for the premiere. Following Plymouth, Quadrophenia will tour the U-K through October.
Weekend Yet?????

HERE WE GO AGAIN!??!
Is it just me or are you sick to death of hearing about all the people that Coldplay (allegedly) ripped off??? Ya well, here we go again... Yusef Islam -- a-k-a Cat Stevens -- now claims that Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" sounds like his 1973 song "Foreigner Suite." Islam says he's waiting to see what happens with Joe Satriani's suit before taking any action... Probably not hurting too much, what with all the royalties from the '70's, right??? -Keep
ya posted...
THEY WANT YOU!!!
Aerosmith is looking for an act to take the stage before Z-Z Top on their current tour, and it could be you. The search is on for two people from each city on the tour to square off on stage in a game of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The winner from each city will get two tickets to the show, a Guitar Hero: Aerosmith game pack, and a personal congrats from Steven Tyler and Joe Perry before the show. And, a video of your winning moment will be posted here and the Aerosmith YouTube channel. For more information on how to enter the contest, click here.
As for how some of the Aerosmith guys are doing at Guitar Hero, drummer Joey Kramer says he "really sucks" and bassist Tom Hamilton says he's "pretty good."
BUSTED!!! (again...)
Wacko Jacko's smash hit Thriller is coming back to haunt him as Ola Ray, his girlfriend in the video, is suing him over unpaid royalties. Actress Ray has filed a suit against Jackson and his production company alleging breach of contract. Ray's attorney claims she was promised a cut of the 1983 promo's revenue but has yet to receive a penny... Why am I not surprised in the least by this??? Read more here. Check out her 1980 PlayBoy Spread, here... Careful!!!
Let There Be... Roger!!!
HE'S BAAACK.... WELL, SOON!
Remember all those tickets we gave away, way back when...? Well it's time to use 'em!!! Roger Hodgson coming back to hit Place des Arts for a bunch o' shows on the weekend.. Still a few tickets kicking around - check in here to see what exactly is left... Good luck!
HAPPENING OR NOT...??? COME ON!!!
So Woodstock promoter Michael Lang was at the Pete Seeger tribute concert Sunday in New York. Talking backstage, he said there are still no plans in place for a 40th anniversary festival.
Safe To Come Out Now???
MUSIC MONDAY GOOD FOR YOU...?
Here's something that never gets enough press every year... Music Monday! Yeah!!! Great day of recognition in support of music programs around the world. Basically school classes put on small scale concerts around the community to display their various levels of talent... Kinda nice to take your mind off the crap for a change.. If you missed it this year - click here and get set for next year!
FOR THE RECORD
Boston has no plans to tour this year while Tom Scholz continues to work on the band's next album. He's also using this time to clear up any confusion about upcoming dates by former band members using the name Boston in ads, as well as setting the band's history straight. In particular, he sites former guitarist Barry Goudreau who, on his website, takes credit for some of Boston's early success. Scholz writes, "After performing with Boston a scant three years, Barry left to pursue a career separate from mine but he kept his share of royalties for all the songs he was not involved in recording, and has continued to collect it for the last 30 years. Accepting money for someone else's work is one thing; taking credit is quite another." Boston hopes to tour next year.
DRESS TO KILLLLLLL!!!!
Judas Priest singer Rob Halford has designed a clothing line called Metal God Apparel. In addition to designs for male metal wannabes, he has designed garments for women, teens and kids. It's described as having the "newest fashion technology resulting in an extremely attractive, lightweight, soft-to-touch, active-wear for today's global music audiences." Look for it in mid-June. For more information, click here.
Way To Go!!!
THANK-YOU(s)!!!
I was totally shocked when I turned on the radio to find out that CHOM's Caring for Kids Radiothon had raised over $1.5 million IN JUST 1 DAY?!? And were in recession, apparently?! A big, huge pat on the back to all involved: volunteers, sponsors, parents and most of all the kids! I'll have to check the numbers but I think it took us 3 days to raise something like, $1.8 million and then this year - $1.5 million in just one day during an economic slowdown... A real big-deal and another huge success for the Montreal Children's Hospital!!! Way to go!!!
"JOINT"-BOUND TILL 2010!
Santana is the latest artist to announce a residency in Las Vegas. The show, Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits, debuts May 27th at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Through 2010, The Joint will be the only place west of the Mississippi where fans can see Santana perform. Carlos says, "It is a great honor for Santana to be the first resident performer at the new Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. I still live the principles of the 1960s, and because I'm a hippie at heart, A Trip Through the Hits is designed to bring everyone in the audience together as one... My wish is for it to be a night that will move you to dance, to cry, to laugh and to feel the totality and fullness of being alive."
Swine Flu-Free For 5 Days!!!
LEVEL 5
Alright, so you all laughed and said it was nothing - nobody would get hurt, let alone die... Well here we are and I know, this has all happened before and will happen again but all I'm saying is BE VIGILANT! It's OK to wash your hands 10-20 times a day; wipe down your work areas; open windows on the bus - don't go to MEXICO!!! A bit tongue in cheek of course, but stop it now before it gets out of hand?!? 'Cause we all know: "Bacon tastes good, pork-chops taste GOOD too", right??? Still need more facts??? Click here.
TARJA
OK here she is... Yeah, didn't know either but this Finish babe used to sing for the band NightWish. She'll be appearing (solo) at the Medley this Friday May 1, '09 and a pretty stunning voice too... Check her out, below!
NIGHTWISH - I WISH I HAD AN ANGEL
U2 - 360
Not only are U-2 getting ready for their 360-Degrees Tour, but so is their stage. The stage, which will afford the audience an unobstructed view of the band, is under construction in Belgium. Show designer Willie Williams says, "After two-and-a-half years of planning, this thing is almost built... I thought I was getting used to the scale of the operation, but it's pretty staggering to look at this and imagine we're taking it on tour..." You can see pieces of it here.
U-2's tour starts June 30th in Barcelona, Spain, with North American dates set to kick off on September 12th in Chicago.
Alert Warning: Red!!!
OH MAN! HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!
So first if was SARS back in '02... Didn't do so well back then: people walkin around in the surgeon masks; constantly checking to see if someone's breathing on you in the metro etc... Then MadCow... Then it was Avian Flu... Freakin' me out - every time I saw a dead bird... Now it's one of my favorite meat groups: Pork!? Apparently you can't get thru contaminated meat but you won't catch me hoppin' on a plane down there for a "hot-dog run"!?! Probably why my favorite Chicken & Ribs place didn't like my "That ain't from Mexico" line the other night... Who knew? In case you really need it - here are some facts & myths regarding this newest plague?!?
SUMMERTIME
BRING IT ON, ALREADY!!!
Look at that - classic Canadian behaviour, bitching about upper 20 degree weather in April?!? You watch - I'm jinxing it but after that crappy week - rain, Habs etc.; you better believe I'm up for some Balconville sun-action!?! With me??? This is where most of us get our weather from - so that's where the complaints should go... Mm'kay? Thaaaaanks!
SAD BUT TRUE
FOR!
There goes another season... Kinda of a tough pill (cue the cliches) to swallow for the big Centennial year, no??? So I'll just come out and say it... We were beaten by the better team. Whether they wanted it more / were better prepared / more focused - pick one. Don't want to take all the blame away but what's up with the fans this year??? I can understand frustration, etc. but watching the game Wednesday night couldn't help thinking about my Nintendo and the hockey game it came with back in 1988... Remember the 2 dimensional, no movement or sound that would kinda of shake and vibrate a bit??? Same thing at the Bell Ctr. Even Youppie was draggin' his ass around - listless and defeated... To all the A-Holes booing our team and the anthems - click here for detailed instructions on how to perform a lobotomy on yourself... Do us all a favor for next year... Nuff said. Thanks for the good games guys (like before Xmas) some really good times & there's always next year! For now - enjoy the golf!!!
How cool is this??? My favourite Who album/movie could be in theatres before Xmas '09... Chec it out - Pete Townshend is working on a stage production of The Who's 1973 album, Quadrophenia. In an interview with the U-K's Times Online, Townshend says, "I have been involved until recently only as the original creator... I am now involved in the production of the show, the casting, the way the band works and will do some work during rehearsals... 'Austin Powers' has done a lot of damage to the image of swinging London, parodying what had already been parodied by lazy American newsreels over the years. So in a sense my mission is to bring back some of the grayness, the bleakness of those years, and demonstrate to the cast that what happened simply had to happen, otherwise we would all have gone nuts. It wasn't an optional outing of boys playing on scooters -- it was a vital rebellion." Quadrophenia will open in Plymouth, England on May 9th and will tour the U-K until October. Here's hopin'!!!
HE WANTS YOU... OOOH!!
Pearl Jam's Mike McCready wants you to play with him on stage. The guitarist is holding an on-line auction to raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, and the top bidder will get to be on stage with him and his side band Flight to Mars on May 2nd at the Showbox in Seattle. The auction ends Tuesday. And you can access the auction here!
GREEN DAY!!! NO, NOT THAT ONE?!?
EARTH DAY: A DAY TO CELEBRATE THE WARMING Of THE EARTH, RIGHT...?
OK, I know - I know... We're celebrating the Earth and trying to get a little more environmentally conscious, right? It's a big deal over here at The Spirit of Rock & Astral Media Inc. and I'll try and give some Earth day thoughts and maybe activities too if you care and you SHOULD... This will directly affect us and our children if steps are not taken... Didn't you see An Inconvenient Truth?? Say what you want about Al gore.. I know I have but really, he's just the messenger. The History Channel had The Lost Book of Nostradamus on this past weekend (more here); basically saying that Dec. 21, 2012 will be the end of days if we don't change but it was all the environmental issues that we have already seen?!? That freaked me out - BIG TIME! If you want to get really freaked too - check it out!
CRUNCHTIME!!!
BOSTON - YOU WILL ALWAYS SUCK!!!
Had more chest pains on Saturday night... Not a fun game to watch - the only good to come out of it (in my humble opinion) was the suspension of that wretched Milan Lucic... He should be gone for the season but we'll take what we can get, right? Am I the only one who wants to see big-bad Georges "stomp 'em up good...?" Hope not but 'no time like the present, eh Georges??? Let's do this! He's already got Chara thinking twice (when he's on the ice..) Time to get a little more physical... Don't want stupid penalties but... Anyway here's hoping this one (tonight) is the "TSN Turning-point".. Go Habs Go!!! Full schedule and standings here.
Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!!
ALL THE WAY - BABY!!!
OK it's official now.. The city has hockey fever!!! And lovin' every moment of it!!! Wasn't really feeling it too much in the weeks leading up but after my little stroll down St. Catherine St., oh around, say 9pmish?! People out on the terrace, in the streets, hangin' out - talking & laughing.. The girls... This is what we're alive for... From now 'till September (well maybe October if there's Indian Summer, right?) you can have the rest!!! Did I mention the girls??? So the bad news: our Habs lost last night but ...played one hell of a game against the 1st place Bruins. Maybe even the best game (against 'em) this season... Couple bad goals at the start but solid team work and non-stop work ethic kept 'em ion the picture... Just gotta keep "Givin' 'Er"!!! Next one's in Boston on Saturday @ 7pm.. Go Habs Go!!! If you need some help with pools or just to figure out who's playing who... Click here!
HERE WE GO AGAIN....
Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones is being secretive about a collaboration he's part of this summer. He tells Women's Wear Daily, "I'm working on some other music, which is more rock based, with a couple of other people. We hope to be everywhere this summer... It's a secret, actually. I shouldn't have even said that, you know? There are some exciting projects coming up, let's put it that way." Jones was recently working with Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham, but Page pulled the plug.
Let There Be (more) Rock!!!
WE NEED YOUS TONIGHT!!!
Aerosmith have announced their summer tour with ZZ Top. It starts June 10th in St. Louis, with Z-Z joining on June 16th in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The tour is sponsored by Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and tickets in select markets go on sale Friday. For additional details, go to LiveNation-dot-com.
Aerosmith's Joe Perry says, "I have always been a huge fan of Z-Z Top. I toured with them with the Joe Perry Project, and those shows were unforgettable. With Z-Z Top on this bill, it will definitely kick us into overdrive."
There She Goes...
THAT'S ALL FOLKS....
An awesome ski season with the CHOM Bernard Trottier Ski Team this year - I couldn't think of a better way to close off the season... At Mt. Tremblan for the legendary Caribou Cup!! Pond-skimming competition wast the highlight for me - just being up there in that beautiful part of the province... Could be just sitting on a pic-nic table, to pass the day - great surroundings! Like I said last night, we could've used a bit more sun but no one let that bring down the party atmosphere!!! Already thinking of next year - a big thanks to all at Tremblant for making our last a biggie! Congrats to Manon St. Arsenault of Ile Bizard... She picked up a 2 year lease on the 2009 Volkswagen Golf from Centre Ville Volkswagen... Enjoy & see ya next year!
FINALLY!!!!!!!!
Well it had to happen at some point, right??? Leg number 3 of their Black Ice Tour, AC/DC has decided to grace us with their presence at the BiG-O and all I've gotta say about that is this: "Took ya's long enough!!!". I say this because they've already been to dirty ol' Toronto TWICE!!! What's up with that??? Like we don't have 10 times the fans and we're talkin' the hardcore -right??? Looks like such a good show - almost hurt that T.O. would get 2 shows before the "way-superior-Montreal" even gets one... Should be adding more shows as they go but here they are so far:
| 7/28 - Foxborough, MA - Gillette Stadium EH-OH LET'S GO!!! (HABS)Thu, 2009-04-09 01:56.
ALL THE WAY, BABY!I'd just like to take this opportunity to reaffirm my allegiance to the greatest hockey team in the history of hockey... Ever. But with just 2 games to post season play - it's only normal that I'm slightly nervous... More chest-pains the other night against the Rangers - is that OK at 32??? Anyway, I've never considered the Habs not making it - not even for a second but still wouldn't mind seeing some more of that Tom "Can'tstop-olous" work ethic from a few games back...??? Here's hoping... Huge game tonight against the "hopefully not so big-bad [1st place]" Boston Bruins... The bad news is it's in Boston but then back up here for the all-important "decider" against Pittsburgh. Oh man! All I gotta say is GO HABS GO!!! If you're doing any playoff picks (Come on! Glass half-full people!!!) Check here first! DON'T STOP BELIEVING!!!When A-C/D-C started their Black Ice tour last October in Pennsylvania, the cameras were rolling on the fans so they could talk about their love of the band. and show us all here in the city, what we've been missing... With a 3rd US leg of the Black Ice Tour announced maybe 3rd times the charm! The first two episodes of the documentary have been posted on the band's website, with the remaining five episodes to be posted between April 14th and May 12th. Digg 'em here. BLONDE JOVIBon Jovi is suing an all-girl tribute band called Blonde Jovi, claiming they're infringing on the Bon Jovi trademark with their name and logo. A letter from Bon Jovi's lawyer says, "Unfortunately, and despite the fact that our client appreciates the reverence that your band pays tribute to Bon Jovi as a tribute band, our client nevertheless is charged with the duty of enforcing its trademark rights... Such use creates a likelihood of confusion with our client and capitalizes on the goodwill and reputation of its well-known marks." Christmas - Part 2Wed, 2009-04-08 02:07.
![]() NEW STUFF!!!You know, when I was choosing a title for today's blog; I was thinking more about the music than the weather but now I guess they both apply... Winter back in the city for a few days - knew we couldn't get away with just a mere 2cm of snow?!?! So nicely done, God! You got us!!! Anyway new music out yesterday, pretty rockin!! The Tragically Hip's newest: We Are The Same - a little softer, more acoustic - less rocking but still pretty cool... You've already heard "Love is a First" on CHOM but if you still not totally sold, click here. Spring Skiing Feelin' Like Water-Skiing!?!?Mon, 2009-04-06 01:13.
![]() HEROES OF THE DAY!!!So cool to see the guys (with Jason Newsted & Rob Trujillo) up on stage - lookin' pretty bad-ass in the black suits, if I don't say so myself!!! James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich hugged onstage after giving speeches, and both thanked fans who have followed the band through its ups-and-downs that included the death of first bassist Cliff Burton in 1986. Inductees on Saturday night stemmed from the roots of rock and roll, embodied by Wanda Jackson, who got her start playing alongside Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, to classic rocker Jeff Beck, who was inducted by Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. Let The "Watchage" Begin!!!Fri, 2009-04-03 01:42.
WHOLE LOTTA - TELLY!?!!?Well with all the crappy weather forecast for the weekend (first half anyway), I thought it would be a good idea to suggest some good "rockin-wathcin"tm!! So much crap on TV these days, I think it's each of our duty to point out some of the better programming - so here goes... Tonight on Teletoon 9.30pm:Newsted's Back!!!Thu, 2009-04-02 02:53.
ONE NIGHT ONLY...So glad to see sanity prevailing (for once) at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, coming up this Saturday night (April 4th)... Metallica have to decided to not only have their old bassist, Newsted, not only accept the award with them but perform 2 songs as well! It was thought he would accept the award, play a song and that's it but no! He will do both songs with current bassist (Rob Trujillo) sitting backstage...? Probably has something to do with the fact that Rob only contributed to their most recent album - Death Magnetic, which probably isn't uhm, the main reason their getting in, right??? Read more here. ![]() COMING - SORT OF...Summer concert season shaping up pretty nice (if you like road-trippin')! Lots of announcements coming - mostly for US dates but not too far from us... Like Bad Company, here - hittin' the road in June for a mini-tour of the East Coast. They start in Florida and work their way North to New York... Looks like mostly outdoor shows and 9 out of 10 will be played with The Doobie Bros!!! How cool would that be??!? Closest to us is in a place called Wantagh, NY... All dates just below:
